Cavs acquire Sam Dekker (Official)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This seems like a good fit for the Cavs. He is someone that needs to prove himself to get minutes. He helps give us depth at SF/PF which I think we needed. He should be fine sitting on the bench till minutes open up.

If he develops I could see him playing both SF and small ball PF for us. It would allow Love to play some center with 3 wing like players and a point guard.

I also like the approach Koby is taking. I don't think we saw a move like this by Chris Grant. Going after once mid to late 1st round picks instead of G-leaguers seems like a better approach to building a team.

I don't see much potential in that highlight video, but I trust Koby. This seems like another low risk/high reward type deal.

Yeah, it’s just trying to manufacture an asset. I like the strategy they are taking.

Grab a bunch of these young, athletic players to give minutes to.

Either you showcase them on a bad team to trade them down the road or in an effort to see if you can get one to come out of the wash and be a long term piece.

Everyone talks about the value of Korver and how he helps guys with their shot.
If Korver/Cavs and get this guy to shoot a respectable percentage from three, they have a guy they can use long term.
Big and versatile. Just needs the shot to fall.
I really liked him at Whisky, he was their X factor.

Can we give Korver a damn break?

He can not and will not be everyone's shooting coach. We need to allocate his time to a very limited group.

First guy is Cedi and the second is Sexton. Everyone else can work with Frye.

Great trade. He's on a rookie deal, so even if it doesn't work out it's not a big loss. Dekker was held back by limited minutes on his previous teams. Hopefully he improves with the Cavs. Also, it's nice they got him for the trade exception from the Kyrie trade.

And he is white.

We have the whitest team in the league. We are clearly trying to change the NBA. Cavs are taking the game to th 70s all the way...no 3pt shooters and no skin color.

Warriors got nothing on us.

Cavs buying low on guys like Preston, Nwaba, and Dekker. There's bound to be one diamond in the rough
Except that's not true... The sum total odds of those guys' draft positional odds to be an NBA playoff team's rotation player is no more than 20%...

Listen, I am a fan of all three moves, but let's not pretend the odds are more than they are.

Kinda weird that it’s on the front page of espn.com

Means Celtics fans are gonna be torn on who to root for when they play us.

Dekker is a solid and young wing. Would rather take a swing on him for this squad next year instead of Okaro White. Watched him a lot when he was at Wisky, but kind of lost tabs on him last year.

Can't shoot from distance well, but he's still a rather efficient guy from the floor. Rotation next season is looking interesting to say the least:

PG | Sexton / Clarkson
SG | Hill / Nwaba / Smith
SF | Osman / Korver / Dekker
PF | Love / Frye / Preston
C | Nance / Thompson / Zizic

Jury still out on Rodney Hood, but I honestly don't expect him back as of now. Find a way to dump off TT and Smith and we could be looking at a fun year.

We now officially have the whitest front-court in the league. I count 5.5, depending on how you classify Turkic peoples.

I’ve obviously been beaten to the punch.
