Hughes was Hughes. Started off hot, then still managed to get under 40% shooting by the time it was over. He at least got to the foul line, but other than that, nothing impressive. He scored early by taking good shots and going to the rim, but on cue got out of control by the 2nd half. On critical possessions he drives to the hoop and tries to feed Newble under the basket with three Bobcats right there in the lane and simply turns it over 30 feet from the hoop next time. Ho hum. Welcome back...I guess.
They had to dig deep to lose this game to a horrible team. Some well timed turnovers, some costly chokes from the line, a 7 foot 3 guy getting stuffed at the rim by a guy 8 inches shorter. They really put it all together.
Mike Brown has to get smarter on the sidelines. When your team doesn't get a single good look at the hoop on 4 or 5 straight trips, it may be wise to burn a TO and get your stuff together.
Gooden needed a good benching. When he touches it, it's going up to the hoop. No question about it. Complete black hole at this point. Mix in the bad D and it's time to be thankful AV will be back.
