Cavs/Bucks and Ilyasova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Cavs not that interested in Ilyasova

I wouldn't exactly call Tyler Zeller a shooter. He attempted less than one jumper a game last season at UNC.

Don't count Zeller out yet, everybody on that UNC team had their own role to fill. Zeller, Barnes, and Henson are intelligent and could all break out to become really solid NBA players.

Jamison never had his own true safari. We were on the hunt for Amar'e and all of a sudden, news broke that Jamison had been captured.

I recall BigMar starting a 'Tawn's Army' movement to limited success.

Was there also a "The Dawn before Tawn" topic also discussing the possibility of us landing him? For some reason that title sticks out to me.

Re: Cavs not that interested in Ilyasova

I was part of that stupid army. I am glad we didn't get Amare. I knew he was bad news. I thought Tawn would be good though and fit in. I only realized later that Z dislocating his shoulder earlier that year was a really bad omen.

Jeezus....

Does free agency have to play out like how the draft did? We're interested in someone, then we're not. Have our name linked to everyone, only to make a puzzling choice in the end....

How could we not be interested in Ilyasova? As it stands we'll only have the following salary commitments have the upcoming season:

Irving
Waiters
Varejao
Zeller
Thompson

That's roughly 25 mill, I think we can take this hit.

$10M per year is how.

Everyone is so damn anxious to sign any middling free agent for any amount of money it takes.

Patience, people. This is going to take more than 3-4 years.

The Cavs have been high on Bucks restricted free-agent Ersan Ilyasova for a couple of years now, but the bidding on him could reach $10 million a season. I’d be surprised if the Cavs stay in it that long.

The Bucks might be the favorite to re-sign him. He's married and is starting to raise a family in the Milwaukee area.

"I don't know where (the Bucks) are sitting," Miller said. "I don't know where Milwaukee wants to sit. He has an affinity for Milwaukee. He's lived there and is starting to raise a family there.

"We'll see how it unfolds."

Miller said he thinks Ilyasova is the top remaining free agent left on the market.

"I thought he was at the beginning of this process," he said. "He's a young up-and-coming talent. He's yet to reach his ceiling. He's a tough, hard-nosed player, who is all about winning. The sky is the limit for him."

He averaged 18 points and 7.5 rebounds in four games against the Cavs last season. That included a 22-point, eight-rebound performance on March 14.

I'd be more inclined to believe Finnan over MSB, don't understand how they can get such opposite information. I guess there is a difference between not being interested, as MSB puts it, and not being willing to pay 10 million, as Finnan writes.

Re: Cavs not that interested in Ilyasova

Read Finnan's tweet again, sure sounds to me like ilyasova's agent is simply using the Cavs to pretend anyone else out there other than Milwaukee is going after him. Finnan bought it hook, line and sinker of course, he's never been the brightest bulb.

I disagree with the people saying to spend just beause we can. If the money isn't right, don't do it just to do it. However, I also don't think it's right to say that we need another 3-4 years so don't spend at all. Bottomline: in Cleveland, you never turn away talent for the right price.

Shooting comment at around 1:06. Combined with good percentages in a small sample size, and 80% ft rate, I tend to believe him.

I think he could block out the post with his nose
