Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

Great news. Hopefully all this free agency talk around the NBA has lowered the price for him and we can get him at a reasonable price. Would fit well on this team as a stretch four who rebounds and defends well.

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

He has a 5 year 40 million dollar on the table from Milwaukee. Anyone else believe he's worth more than that

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

Doubt his price will lower. He has a standing offer from the Bucks to return at 5 years/40 million

The linked article also mentions that, if the Nets fail to land Howard, Ilyasova is their plan B. They would engage in a S&T w the Bucks and ship Humphries(along with a future first round pick) to a third team.

So in that scenario, the question is, would we take on Humphries for 2+ years just to pick up a draft pick from the Nets that will in all likelihood be in the 24-28 range?

Yes.

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

I like this guy alot were a playoff team if we add him.

Ilyasova > Humphries

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

thats the perfect player for us with irving and waiters getting to the rim. A 4 who can shoot is just what the doctor ordered.

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

I'm of the opinion that there is not a single player left in FA that by himself elevates us to even the #8 seed.

Miami
Chicago
Boston
Brooklyn
Indiana
New York

Those six are locks for EC conference playoff teams.

A healthy Atlanta is still better than the Cavs(this year)
Washington has improved a ton(for the short term) with Okafor, Nene, Ariza, and Beal additions
Orlando is an unknown quantity depending on what they get for Dwight.

The highest I could see the Cavs getting regardless of what 1 remaining FA they signed would be the 9 or 10 seed.

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

This is the guy I really wanted to target this offseason. I really like his game and at just 25, he can grow with this team.

Would really like to get him, even if we had to slightly overpay.

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

We can only offer 5 years to one player right? I'd offer 4 yrs/38 million

I'm not as confident as you are that the Nets are building a team capable of getting a high playoff seed, especially in this scenario where they don't get Howard. In fact, I feel they're ripe for a fall a couple of years from now considering the age of the players they're adding. I'd love to get one of their picks with no lottery protection, but I don't think it's worth overpaying Humphries

Yes and I'd be happy with that kind of contract... A little under $10 million a year to get a young player who is the right fit for what we are trying to do. Sounds about right.

I think we may be able to get him with that kind of offer.

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

I asked this in another thread earlier, but were there ever any updates on his age controversy? As of Feb 2009, Draftexpress seemed to believe he was three years older than listed, which would make him 28 now.
