Cavs/Bucks and Ilyasova

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

Did anybody else ever notice Ilyasova looks like James Franco

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

Ilyasova is a solid piece to the puzzle. Perfect third big who can stretch the floor and rebound. Don't see enough minutes for him here though. Varejao might be on his way out if we did sign him.

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

DX has the story about his age, including the theory he was born in 1984 and not 1987. You have to go to the very beginning of the profile.

I've not heard anything further about this controversy.

The fact he had such a big jump in productivity last year for the Bucks may suggest he is 25, since it is rare to see such improvements for a 27/28 year old.

Advanced metrics generally rate him highly... PER was 20.55 this past year.

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

For his kind of production, I'd say he's worth 8-12 million a year. A 20 per is great stuff.

He's not commanding that much money to be a 3rd big man anywhere including Cleveland

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

I'm pretty sure he can play the 3 which can give us a huge lineup from the 3-5 with him, Thompson/Varejao, and Zeller/Varejao.

I do think if we get him though, Andy is on his way out.

True, didn't notice that the Bucks offered him such a huge deal. Do you see him as a starting PF or C here?

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

Its a pony show. I wouldnt take it seriously.

Agreed. I'd have to think he'd start at PF with Andy at C. Those two fit well together and we'd have a really strong 4-man big rotation with Zeller, Thompson, Ersan, and AV. It would also make it easier to deal AV later on if we can get our hands on a good SF.

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

He's strictly a PF.

He can play a little bit of the 3 in the Princeton offense. Very little slashing needed from the wing since the offense is setup for the 1 and 2 to be the primary slashers.

He cant effectively play center. He is a combo foward but is the size of a pf. He is would be a good piece as part of a big man rotation. He isnt the defender that Tristan is, but is much better than most Euro combo power forwards.

Milwaukee offered 5 years 40 million, to get him it will take 9 mill per a year. That it a bit of a risk, but worth taking. I dont see Milwaukee letting him leave though (i know he is unrestricted, but still), he is one of the few things Milwaukee has done right in the last 5+ years.

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

oops

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

perfect replacement for jamison. its gonna take atleast 9 a year to get him

Re: Ilyasova to visit Cavs this week

If we sign him to that kind of money, which he may be actually worth, I think it would have to mean that AV is on his way out. Then we could have TT take over the Andy role of backup PF and C, which I think he would thrive at. I have always looked at TT as an eventual AV replacement with more athleticism and a higher upside.
