Cavs made offer for Aldridge

The Cleveland Cavaliers are hoping to land a top player via free agency or trades and they reportedly called the Portland Trail Blazers regarding the availability of All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge.

According to Chad Ford and Marc Stein, the Cavs offered the Nos. 1 and 19 selections in the 2013 draft to Portland for Aldridge and the Blazers swiftly declined the deal.

Aldridge might be available, however the Blazers will likely only accept a trade if they get an All-Star-type player back in a deal.

I got it off of my ESPN Insider. I don't know how I feel about it. Aldridge is a 20-10 guy who's only 27 and has 3 years remaining on his contract, which is all good. But, I feel like Porter, McLemore, and Noel have serious potential but again they could all just be a bust. Glad I'm not the one making these decision, too many perspectives for me!

Maybe this is the type of deal that occurs around the trade deadline once the Blazers aren't winning enough. Aldridge is in his prime and the Blazers aren't competing in the West anytime soon.

Adding a guy like LMA to the lineup might entice LeBron to come here next year. Kyrie-Waiters-LeBron-LMA-Varejao with TT and Zeller rotating.

What are you giving up to get him if you keep Waiters, Thompson, and Zeller?

Portland already turned down #1 and #19.

why?... we could possibly get #13 from Dallas still could we not?....even if not we add a guy in his prime that is perfect offensively for this team that would be the best PF in the East... I don't get the few people I have seen today that act like that is too much for Aldridge...guy shoots 50-80 avg 21-9-3 and throws in a blk and almsot a stl for good measure

I'd be willing to trade them any combination of draft picks this year, and TT for Aldridge. Hell, maybe even a protected 2015 1st rounder. (Or the grizzlies/sacramento pick)

agreed...picks and certain players are greatly overrated on this board at times.... Aldridge would be a great fit...other than Love the best PF fit out there for this team IMO

I fully expect the Cavs to pony up if Aldridge is indeed available. They want him bad.....

Portland already turned down #1 and #19.

Cavs should try to keep the young core in tact if possible. If LeMarcus wants out, maybe we can get him for 1, 19, 33 and the Kings/Griz future 1st... If not, 1, TT, and 31, 33?

No way do I give up both Thompson and the number one this year for Aldridge.

LMA is better than anyone on our team not named Irving. Waiters might be as good as him, someday. I would trade anyone besides Irving and Waiters, that's it. Both firsts, TT, and Varejao.. without blinking.

Does he come with a contract extension? Because if he walks after 2 years, you're basically back to square one.

If it were me...I'd make sure its a sign-and-trade. That the Blazers have agreed on a contract extension with Aldridge.
