Cavs not seriously interested in Nicolas Batum

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
And you know this for a fact?

I don't believe the Cavs would actually tank, but I don't think they will be that good. People need to realize we came into a shorten season with vets playing with us. We don't even have a complete team right now. I wish people would slow down on these high expectations and enjoy the rise of the future of the Cavs.

the cavs were a healthy AV away from picking around #10 this year, and that was with them trotting out a D league cast, ryan hollins, and erden. citing anthony parker leaving as a reason cleveland might be worse is also flawed. the cavs won't be in the top 5 this year.

I was referring to Joe Johnson's value this season as a trade chip that enabled the Nets to sign Deron Williams as well as others ( Evans, the Euro leading scorer whose name escapes me..maybe Teletevic?, and their pursuit of Dwight Howard).

So, as bad of a signing as you feel that was, the Hawks were still able to deal him away. Playing devil's advocate...how bad of a signing was it anyway? The Hawks have been a playoff team who came incredibly close to bouncing the Celts several times and this past year had a devastating injury to Al Horford. And now, they've been able to deal away said "bad" contract and have tremendous flexibility to pursue a Dwight Howard.

Meanwhile, that's all you got out of my post?

I agree that the Joe Johnson contract was proper given Atlanta's situation. If they let him walk, they would be at the cap and not able to make any big acquisitions anyway. I suppose a sign and trade could have been an option. Regardless, he helped them be a competitive team for a few seasons and has now netted a 1st round pick. Seems like they were much better off signing him given how it played out.

It's not semantics.

This isn't the first time you or maybe it was someone else tried to insist that "many" of us were clamoring for Williams.

We weren't and I proved it.

So don't do it again. Ok?

I don't care if it wasn't your main point. Repeat a lie enough and people will start believing it.

Like I said, learn to read context. That wasn't the point of my post. Nit picking Nancy.

Like I said, my point was that picking Williams at #2 was a good pick (at the time), and making fun of Kahn for it doesn't make much sense. The point about "many" people on this board supporting the Cavs taking him #1 was just an aside.

But hey, thanks for nipping it in the bud. Curmudgeon.

You'd think the guy who got made fun of for weeks for calling Kyrie a "rich man's Boobie Gibson" would have learned that nit picking isn't so fun.

I just disagree.

But, to each their own. I understand everybody's antsy and wants to win now, but I just don't see it that way. Especially since we're back on an 82 game schedule. We'll see, though.

Umm... it was the only point you made to support your claim that it was the best choice. You even emphasized THIS site.

I'm not reading what you said out of context. If you meant something other than what everyone has so far implied feel free to correct the misconception like I did regarding the "rich man" comment and guess what? I'll actually respect it ... unlike you who to this day chose to continue to misrepresent my words in some sort of feeble attempt at ... umm what? A counter attack?

Luckily, we aren't distracting an important thread.

You can have the last word since you always need it anyways.

I agree with this, although Jamison did provide alot of scoring as well. The trio of Irving-Jamison-Varejao had the Cavaliers in contention for a playoff spot, which, in & of itself, is pretty damn amazing. It wasn't until Andy went down and later Kyrie, that the Cavaliers faltered and were able to secure a top draft pick. With this team being improved, there's almost no way I see them getting another top pick. I think they finish in the lower half of the lottery, picking between 9-14.

Are you sure you don't have some more message board defense mechanisms to evoke first? How many are we up to? 4 or 5 I think.

And people say I have a hard time conceding a point. lol

Wow Jon, you are the king of semantics. That's the only thing that needs nipped in the bud. LOL

Your fault there mate.

"Do you remember how many people on THIS site were pushing to take D-Williams with our 1st pick"

Makes it sound like it was a hell of a lot more votes for DW than 236 to 11.

it's not really a matter of wanting to win now or not. it's a matter of the notion that everyone thinks that the cavs will so easily be able to acquire the "missing piece" more easily via the draft at the back end of the top 10, or through some ficticious trade of AV where some team will simply willingly give up a great young SF to Cleveland. this line of reasoning is simply setting up for disappointment.

Can you tell me which teams other than Charlotte you think will no doubt be worse than the Cavs next year? Even if both rookies pan out, the team is young and will experience many growing pains I'm sure. Almost every roster in the NBA is deeper than ours, and I have trouble believing this team will survive an 82 game season without strong veteran leadership.

These 8 teams could be worse than the Cavs

Raptors (lowry, jv and ross aren't going to help them improve much - no doubt imo)

Rockets (with all the crazy moves they made, do they even have a pg)

Mavs (they have Dirk and....some old people, 3 rookies`and an undersized 2 guard who won't start)

Kings (do we really have to go over why they have been bad since the end of C-Web's era again)

Hornets (davis/rivers aren't going to make them that much better this soon, they are bad - no doubt imo)

Philly (williams leaving, brand cut, keeping iggy is what decides this)

Magic (after they move howard they could be worse than the bobcats on paper - no doubt after howards gone imo)

Suns (depends on gordon but if the big moves for them are dragic and beasly lmfao if they are better than the Cavs - no doubt with out gordon)

The only way the Raps aren't better than the Cavs is if they suffer major injuries. I could see them making the playoffs.

Even with the Mavs losing guys, I'd think they're better than the Cavs. Same with Philly.

Phoenix, New Orleans, and Sacramento... probably a push. The Magic will probably be worse. No clue what Houston will look like since I can't see any way they don't make 1000 more moves until the season.

How are the wizards not on that list?

How are the wizards not on that list?

The Wizards have a decent starting five of Wall/Beal/Ariza/Okafor/Nene now. That's helluva lot better than what ours will be. If Varejao is moved, they'll definitely be better than us.
