Cavs Trade Deadline (discussion)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Cavs actively seeking lottery pick

Doesn't Utah own another pick this year too?

Yes. Utah owns Golden State's pick as part of the Deron Williams trade (got GSW's pick from NJ last year). The pick from GSW is top 7 protected though.

New Orleans also owns two firsts. Theirs plus Minnesota's which is unprotected. That pick could become a lot more valuable since Rubio just went down for the season. I would hate to deal with David Stern though.

Could you imagine trading for the Minny pick and it ends up being #12-14 and the Cavs end up winning the lottery with it again? Especially if Stern okays a trade to Cleveland.

EDIT:

Like i said in the 2012 draft thread.

Gasol to Houston, Sessions to LA, we get NY 1st rd pick from Houston

NY's pick is top 5 protected. They're hanging on to the #8 spot in the playoffs right now though.

Re: Cavs trading into the lottery??? (The Bullshit Whisperer)

Cavs lottery picks for RG3?

Re: 2012 Draft

please god let it be true.. then let us draft MKG / Barnes and Beal / Lamb. holy shit our 1-3 would be solidified for the next decade.. PLEASE GRANT!!

Re: Cavs actively seeking lottery pick

The RGIII news was one thing, but I think this officially starts the annual RCF Meltdown that will be "trade deadline week"

Admit it...you love it. Its like a hot girl teasing you before sex, you probably wont get.

We all may hate Stern ,but he loves Gilbert. That connection may benefit us.

yes but what deal makes sense for them?

- harris isn't very good but sessions isn't any better
- they have burks and hayward as their young wings
- their front court is already packed with jefferson, millsap, kanter, and favors
- they don't have any truly bad contracts. jefferson is overpaid but expires next year and given the rest of the salaries if they move him now they'll still need to pay someone a lot to meet the cap floor

so that leaves ???????

Oh oops, could of sworn they werent in right now. My mistake
they're in and will in all likelihood stay in unless the cavs make a dumbass move to push for the playoffs or nj trades for howard before the deadline

edit:

hornets don't really make sense either. salary dumps don't make sense because of the aforementioned salary floor and they too are rebuilding so a guy like varejao is completely useless to them too. i don't think they'd be dumb enough to send a lottery pick for a player like sessions but who knows i guess.

i doubt anything big happens. not that that's a ballsy prediction given the cavs limited assets but still.

Re: Cavs trading into the lottery??? (The Bullshit Whisperer)

Utah owns GSW's 2012 pick (with top 7 protection), but Utah may not own their own pick (Minnesota owns it, top 14 protected).

The Nets are another team with 2 picks (Houston, highly protected) but the Cavs don't seem a likely trade partner.

If the Cavs are willing to take on enough bad contracts from New Orleans, seems like the most possible of the teams with 2 picks.

Hopefully the Cavs are just fleecing the Bobcats. :chuckles:

So what shitty team is desperate enough to shed contracts to give up a lottery pick. New Orleans has Okafor and 2 possible lottery picks I know, who else?

That has been my guess for awhile. Minn wont dip too much because, but is still looking like a 12-14 pick. We would save a NOH alot of money if we gave them Jamisons expiring.

Oh for sure. That's why trade deadline week also brings a slew of new posters (example: me, 2009). Unfortunately, most of them suck (jury's still out on me).

David Stern doesn't love anyone but his own ego. Make no mistake about that. He'll stick it to anyone, or thing that moves.

It's just The Bullshit Whisperer trying to drum up some twitter hits. Now if incarceratedbob said it? That's a different story.

Not getting my hopes up... If we got MKG and Beal I would jizz my pants.

Re: 2012 Draft

New jersey to possibly clear more cap space for the summer.
