Cleveland Browns 2017 Training Camp

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I went a few times driving up from Purdue. Had friends that were from Fort Wayne, so used to go get hammered and stay the night.

That place used to be awesome, here it got really run down after 30 years of being open and no renovations, lol.

Couldn't tell you a damn thing about it.

I'm fairly livid that Zane Gonzalez isn't the #1 K. You all got my hopes up.

Also, mildly disappointed that Telfer is listed as the starting TE. It would have been nice if DeValve or Njoku had shown enough to take that spot.

I don't think either of those really mean much. From what I've read, Parkey and Zane have both had good camps so far. Not a bad problem to have there.

As for TE, it really just depends on the sets and Hue hit on it some yesterday during his presser. Telfer is just a blocking TE. DeValve seems to be having a good camp and is probably the #1 receiving TE right now with Njoku behind him, who has been having problems catching the ball. Once again, probably not a bad problem to have but you would like Njoku to catch the ball better....

Regarding Kizer starting or not - I have already said my stance: if he shows he's the best, start him week 1. If not, I would hold him out until after bye. But we need to get him in there for multiple games (4+) to see what he has. I know Hue is in love with him and wants to mentor him like crazy, but if we throw out another shit season (3-13) and we have a chance to draft one of the top QB's in next years, as of now, stacked draft, we need to pounce. And if we only give Kizer say one game to show what he has, the final game against a Pitt team that is probably going to secure a playoff berth and that last game will mean nothing, we could miss out on one next year.

Do I want to use a draft pick on a QB next year? No. But if we throw Kizer in there for say, 5 games, and he just completely blows dick by going 0-5, 750 total yards, 4 TD/9 INT, 3 FUMB. - we need to seriously think hard about drafting a top QB next year.

That's just the "worst" case scenario. Let's hope he fairs well in his playing time. Shows signs of promise and we can use both of our 1st rounders on 2 players that can fill starting roles right away.

Actually the worst case scenario that I can see is Kizer gets in there and plays just ok. We don't know if he's the guy but we don't know if he's NOT the guy. So we end up passing on a legit franchise QB because we think we MIGHT have one already.

Hence the quotations around the worst. I agree with you. If he comes in and plays 4 games and throws for 900 yards, 5 TD/4 INT, 1 rush TD, 3 FUMB. 100 rush yds. - that is mediocre/ehh.

Comparison? That is basically Blake Bortles numbers. Will he make us better than we have been in the shorter term? Yes. Will he put us in the direction we need to go? No.

Hopefully in his playing time he shows some poise in the pocket, accuracy on deep throws, quick release on short routes, vision and patience when the need to scramble is available, etc. We aren't asking him to come in and go 4-0 or 5-0. But if he can win a couple games. Shit, even keep us in every single game no matter if we win or lose, then he has shown the promise to not draft a QB next year.

But it will be hard to not draft one of Darnold, Rosen or Allen, or even Falk if Kizer has a mediocre year/struggles and they all have dominant seasons.

We don't know what is going to happen with Kirk Cousins, but if he goes to the 49ers via trade or FA, the only teams that will probably draft a QB are Jets, Chargers (Rivers replacement in a couple years), Jags (if Bortles doesn't step up his game), Redskins (see: Cousins leaving). No idea if anyone else? The only team I see doing worse than us on that list are the Jets.

Raise your coffee mugs to hoping Kizer shows us some shit this year so we can draft Derwin James & Guice in the 1st (that would be fucking unreal) :alc::coffee:

If we have a chance to get one of the big 3 QBs, I don't give a shit what Kizer does, you take the QB.

Danny Shelton Breakout year?

Telfer as our #1 TE is a fucking shocker to say the least.

I'll be thoroughly pissed off if Njoku and Peppers aren't starting game 1 this season. They need the reps.

Telfer is going to surprise with how effective he is as a blocker.

The Browns have some of the best potential at this spot. Two guys who can really make plays if they catch the ball consistently and Telfer who will be a major asset to the running game.

I actually agree. I think Shelton is go to be boarder line pro bowl this year. I think he will flourish in the 4 man front and with 2 years under his belt.

I wouldn't be pissed since they have to earn the starting spot not just be given it! All our TEs are actually young as well and with the questions at QB it wouldn't surprise me if we run a little more than pass so a good blocking TE will be very important. Also we could see three TEs out there with two on the line and 1 in a WR slot. Jackson now has the ability to mix up the offense since they have options.

Njoku needs to be getting the most reps at tight end period.

There's a reason we used a first round pick on him. If we want him to develop, we need to give him the reps.
