Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They still have to upgrade at WR and possibly TE whoever is under center next year. Unlikely that Jarvis will want to be here next year or take a restructure and there's no obvious replacement slot receiver on the roster. Higgins has surely non-played his way out of future contracts. Anthony Schwartz does not appear to have any obvious footballing ability. Austin Hooper has been an overpaid, average piece.

Of course they need those things.

But better WRs and TEs are much easier to find than a better QB and would be a much smaller issue if the QB is better.

I really think this guy is misinterpreting SOS, especially since Tankathon, thr source of the data he is quoting, already ranks tied teams in proper SOS order. There's a reason we are the lowest of the four 7-9 teams. It's because we lose the tiebreaker to all of them.

Trade Baker to NO for Michael Thomas. The money is close enough where we wouldn't have to add any other players. NO can use their top pick on a WR and Sean Payton gets a year to mold Baker into his new project.

MT is on a big contract but we can restructure Jarvis and MT gives us a true #1. Also MT has an early out after next season on his contract.

MT at the #1 with DPJ as the #2 and Jarvis in the slot is an upgrade for sure. Restructuring Jarvis and some other minor moves and we can easily fit MT on the cap.

I think trading Baker to NO for MT won't involve giving up a #1 or a #2. So we can still use our #1 or #2 on a WR. I still don't think Berry will take a WR with our #1 though. I can see taking one with our #2 but not our #1. Wouldn't surprise me though.

So as for the QB position.....................

I would sign Mitch Trubisky to a very friendly deal. Probably will be close to or less than what Baker is owed next season $18M?? Somewhere in the Brissette/Bridgewater range. I think with a full offseason Mitch Trubisky can be more productive than Baker Mayfield was here. I don't want to make a direct comp to Tannehill but if Tru works out he still won't break the bank on a long term deal just like Tannehill didn't.

After signing Tru we can use our first two picks on a QB and a WR. We could take Olave, Wilson, Dotson, London, Williams and we could snag Ridder in the second round.

Bring back Clowney

Sign Ward to an extension

Re-sign Njoku

Put a tender on DEJ

Restructure Jarvis

See if we can find a trade for Hooper (might have to attach a mid round pick)

Tretter and Conklin replacements are probably in house

Let Ronnie Harrison walk

Draft a DT

Am I crazy for thinking that KS wants a QB with more mobility that can really open up this offense?

I love Teddy B and he's one of the most respected guys in the league but I don't think he has a lot left in the mobility department.

Tru and MM are younger and fresher.

Don't think Thomas on his contract + 7 games in the past 2 seasons + added drama is worth the draft pick capital that the Browns could get in return for Baker Mayfield

Also, Trubisky signed a 1 yr $2.5m deal with Buffalo last year. No way is he making $18m next year

I would definitely be on board with trading Baker for a draft pick/s and signing Trubisky to an incentive loaded contract. Draft a QB and sign another vet or just keep Keenum. Stefanski's offense doesn't need an all pro QB but it would but just think how much better would we have been this season with just average QB play!

A QB is more important, but the Browns DEFINITIVELY need to get WRers this year. They need to replace Higgins, Landry, and I'm open to also finding replacements for Schwartz and Felton. DPJ is the only guy I'd keep at this point.

So who plays QB on Sunday? I would prefer to see Mullens with a full week of preparation as the starter so he can audition for the back-up spot next year, but I have a feeling Case Keenum will start. I guess he has to earn his paycheck somehow.
