Trade Baker to NO for Michael Thomas. The money is close enough where we wouldn't have to add any other players. NO can use their top pick on a WR and Sean Payton gets a year to mold Baker into his new project.
MT is on a big contract but we can restructure Jarvis and MT gives us a true #1. Also MT has an early out after next season on his contract.
MT at the #1 with DPJ as the #2 and Jarvis in the slot is an upgrade for sure. Restructuring Jarvis and some other minor moves and we can easily fit MT on the cap.
I think trading Baker to NO for MT won't involve giving up a #1 or a #2. So we can still use our #1 or #2 on a WR. I still don't think Berry will take a WR with our #1 though. I can see taking one with our #2 but not our #1. Wouldn't surprise me though.
So as for the QB position.....................
I would sign Mitch Trubisky to a very friendly deal. Probably will be close to or less than what Baker is owed next season $18M?? Somewhere in the Brissette/Bridgewater range. I think with a full offseason Mitch Trubisky can be more productive than Baker Mayfield was here. I don't want to make a direct comp to Tannehill but if Tru works out he still won't break the bank on a long term deal just like Tannehill didn't.
After signing Tru we can use our first two picks on a QB and a WR. We could take Olave, Wilson, Dotson, London, Williams and we could snag Ridder in the second round.
Bring back Clowney
Sign Ward to an extension
Re-sign Njoku
Put a tender on DEJ
Restructure Jarvis
See if we can find a trade for Hooper (might have to attach a mid round pick)
Tretter and Conklin replacements are probably in house
Let Ronnie Harrison walk
Draft a DT
