Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oh, numbers the past few years would say you are incorrect. Osweiler has been more durable. I'll give him that. Hoyer's passing numbers are far better, and he is comfortably the starter in S.F. right now, unchallenged for his starting spot for the time being. Let's not dwell in the past, though.
Matt Barkley, CJ Beathard, and Nick Mullens are some stiff competition.

Agreed with the sarcasm, they signed Barkley because he's comfortable being a vet backup, Beathard is a developmental pick who might end up #2. The plan seems to be roll with Hoyer going forward, who has been turning heads according to the local coverage, and/or make a play on Kirk Cousins in 2018 free agency.

You can dispute it all you want, Keys, but Brock's first two years of starting and Hoyer's first two years are damn near identical.

I do not think its fair to say one is better than the other. What I will say is that they are both NFL caliber QBs, neither are really anything more than streaky at their very best, though.

Talk yourself into being wrong, there's no penalty here. Hoyer's passer ratings the past two years were 91 and 98. Osweiler was 86 in Denver on a Super Bowl winning team and 72 on Hoyer's old team. Their values around the league this offseason tell you all you need to know past the stats.

Hoyer will never be a true franchise QB, but he will always be a solid QB especially if he is in the right system. He will play well for Shanahan with the 49ers. Osweiler was a project QB when Denver drafted him to be honest, way more of a project then Hoyer who actually was a better QB to begin with. Osweiler lacked a lot of good fundamentals, but his size, athleticism and arm strength gave him a ton of potential at the end of the day. Hoyer was just a solid QB, but never did anything flashy, but didn't do anything poorly either. I am not sure who was coaching at Michigan State but they seem to do a good job of recruiting and coaching QBs. These two guys are completely different QBs in my mind. Osweiler also in my mind wasn't ready to be a starter last season anyways so for Browns fans especially, hopefully that year of being not very good actually helped him grow and become a better QB. If not we can cut him for nothing next season and we got a high pick for acquiring him. We didn't lose anything at the end of the day.

Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position. Brian Hoyer.

Can we please just cut Hogan or trade Brock for scraps at this point?

How can we possibly justify splitting these pre-season reps up four different ways. Kizer should be playing from the third quarter all the way through the fourth and to the end of the game. We already know Hogan has no future of being even an adequate back up quarterback for an NFL team.

Why are we still giving him reps.

Hue specifically said that each of the top 3 guys will get significant burn and when it comes to 4th string/Kevin Hogan, "we'll try and see if we can get him some snaps too".

That doesn't sound like a guy who's mere presence is going to have a negative effect on Kizer's development or playing time. If Hue doesn't think Kizer has played enough, he simply won't play Hogan. Otherwise Hogan will just take the mop up snaps against the future grocery store baggers at the end of the game.

Mark Dantonio, who should be considered the best at the college level at preparing QBs for the pro game. Since he got there, Michigan State may not win the Big Ten but they attract some of the best quarterback prospects because of the coaching and responsibilities he gives his QBs.

Eh, none of those guys were elite QB prospects. They were 3 star guys. But Dantonio & company did an excellent job developing them into NFL caliber QBs.

I agree and I wish more college programs let their quarterbacks control the line of scrimmage and run checks like a pro.

I'm a huge Dantonio fan. MSU was pretty awful last year, I'm interested in seeing how they bounce back. Before last year they were on a really good run.

Hey what do you know? Osweiler came out and played like fucking shit again. It's almost like it's a theme or something

When the fuck is Kizer coming in
