Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's not your fucking money, he's a better qb then the Browns have had in 20+ years.

No it's not my money but there is such a thing as a salary cap in the NFL and using 30-40 million of it on Kirk Cousins when you have the #1 pick in the draft is fucking stupid unless you have a Super Bowl team surrounding the QB already, which we don't.

Kirk is putting up top 10 numbers, only in Cleveland do we not want a qb with those stats. We have no clue how Rosen and company will do.

Does the quality of the Bridge QB available effect the decision of who to take?

@The Wizard of Moz? @AZ_
For me absolutely not. Having a good bridge QB can help us in a lot of ways, but by the nature of a bridge QB he just isn’t a long term piece

Whichever QB we pick at #1 will absolutely be a long term piece. We have to make that decision independent of other QBs on the roster imo.

So, if you believe Cousins is a franchise QB and you have $110 million in cap room, I think you have to try to get him unless you are so sure that the QB at 1 is a Day-1 stud.

We have a young budding defense that should take a very big step next year. We also have a good offensive line.

This team looks vastly different with a veteran Pro Bowl QB in his prime at the wheel.

Just saying, if you hypothetically added Cousins and Allen Robinson to this team and drafted difference-making pieces around them, you’re a very exciting young team next year with a fantastic defense.

The salary cap is pointless when you factor in the lack of good free agents we have the next 3 years. I was overly critical of Kirk at one point, but with a solid OC, a ton of cap space, a solid line, 5 picks in the top 64 (possibly more), and an ok defense....why not swing for the fence and atleast try and turn the perception of this team around?

Im personally in the boat of still taking a QB + Kirk, and I know it goes against the grain, but we have too many assets and space to not go for a guy like Kirk. Front load the hell out of his deal before other guys become up for free agency and call it a day.

I'd happily take Kirk. Just not at 40% of the salary cap.

QB isn't the only hole on this team.

The salary cap isn't pointless when you have a handful of holes on the team. And no, plugging in a bunch of rookies isn't the answer, as we've seen..

Cousins isn't coming here anyways, so whatever.

I should think a mediocre Bridge QB makes it more important that the QB taken at #1 be able to start from day one as it is likely they'll be called on to start in their first year at some point.

Yeah whichever side you’re on on this debate it really isn’t worth getting worked up over. There’s like, a 2% chance Kirk comes here and that’s if we basically give him a quarter of a billion dollars

He is probably unlikely, but it doesnt mean you shouldn't atleast make a legitimate offer. We don't need to start rookies to fill holes, we need to spend some of that $110 mil on vets. After you spend $30 on Kirk, fill a few more holes. Front load the shit out of contracts, and that space wont be a long term issue. Again, its not like anyone in the next few years is worth resigning on our roster. Next year is Duke & Joe...2020 has a few names, but no one worth breaking the bank over.

Well, if the Browns were able to pull all that off, then sure I'd be down.

Why secure a top 10 QB when you can take
an unknown commodity in the draft.

I can't beleive anyone on this board struggles with that decision

He's so good Washington doesn't want him!

Thats the spirit! Hop on this ride...Its not like the Cavs are worth our energy right now!
