Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Foles is basically just like Baker too, except he's just bigger.

Their games are both ideally suited for the RPO offense, and by ideally I mean it's basically the only system in which they'll survive the NFL.

Here we go again with this dumb shit....

Just let him sit for a damn season please let’s not fall into the same goddamn trap we’ve been falling in for the past X amount of years.
The trap we've been falling for is drafting horrible QBs

Would Weeden have been better if we sat him a year? Manziel? Some guys like Colt and Quinn did sit. Didn't matter because they sucked.

Plenty of #1 overall picks started right away and went on to have excellent careers.

No but it’s so much more ideal for a guy to sit and learn the game, work on mechanics etc without just being thrown into the shit.

There’s no rush here. Tyrod should start all season and if he goes down Stanton is more than capable of playing

you don’t just force a guy in because someone got hurt.

I thought this dude was supposed to be Jesus reincarnated. He should be able to play if he’s the number 1 overall pick

Provide me one fact-based reason why Drew Stanton should ever start a game for this franchise.

So we don’t rush our #1 pick into game action.

It’s reall not all that hard to comprehend yet you’re making it seem like astrophysics. Good job bud.

The only thing worse than seeing Browns QBs play during the regular season is seeing you guys argue over Browns QBs in the offseason.

I understand you said "start" but let's say Tyrod goes down in a game. Would you throw in Drew or Baker to finish the game?

This is a good question, I think.

Without a week to prepare, reps with the 1s, etc. This is maybe the only scenario I can see for Stanton getting any opportunity to be on the field.

If the game were already out of reach, I certainly go to Baker. Pulled back defenses or soft coverage time would be good.

If its early, I still probably go to Mayfield unless he's shown himself to be completely inept in terms of preparation or mechanics by Week 1.

Will you 2 (@AZ_ @Triplethreat ) stop engaging each other already. We get it. You don't agree really on anything. You don't particularly like each other. For the sake of everyone else, put each other on ignore and make your lives happier.

I'm generally of the opinion that if you are "ruined" by playing too early after being a 4 year starter in college surrounded by a team that has invested heavily in their offensive line, with 2 pro bowl receivers, and one of the best receiving backs in the NFL then you probably were never worth the #1 overall pick in the first place

This isn't a Tim Couch situation. I get starting Taylor, but not sure why we would treat Mayfield as we would have Darnold here. He was either the most or second most pro ready QB in the draft.

Straw-man. Nice addition to the discussion, per usual.
Nice pot shot yet again. Ignore me if you don’t think I add to the discussion. That simple.

To touch on this:

I don't think it would be a matter of Baker being ready when called upon. It's going to come down to how well the coaches have him prepared game plan wise. Too much? Too little? Willing to just adjust on the fly pending how the game plays out?

We all saw that hue had a game plan for kizer last year and stuck with it whether kizer was struggling or not. Can our OC go with the flow this season regardless of a game plan if it doesn't work? Regardless of who starts.
