Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Even last year with the drop off in BABIP, and increase in K%, his OBP% was the same as Gomes, and a 93 wRC+ is solid enough for a catcher.

I didnt have time to look, but I see his ISO went up last year.

Did his line drive numbers change? Change in trajectory perhaps? His BABIP was so awful last year that I'd imagine he may have just been unlucky.

Turned a good number of line drives into flyballs. That’s a good recipe for a dropping BABIP.

Plawecki definitely projects to be our opening day catcher. Would assume that Perez is his backup due to his familiarity with the staff and that Haase starts the year in Triple-A.

Not a flashy pickup, but he's solid. If he can revert back to hitting around .250-.260 like he did in 2017, I'll have zero qualms. He's solid behind the plate defensively as well.

He is supposed to have a good arm too. It’s not reflected in his CS%, but the Mets staff has been notoriously terrible at holding runners. Especially Syndergaard

How many here would rather have the Meija trade back?

Looking at it from a pure baseball perspective, I would rather have Mejia.

There are other factors to consider- such as his reluctance to play in the OF and many don’t think he will stink in C- that make it more complicated than just Mejia vs Hand. And I’m optimistic Cimber will improve.

We made the right move with getting Hand and Cimber for Mejia at the end of the day. I wish we had a Joe Smith though around when Cimber came over though (aka for a mentorship role in a sense) Hand is now our closer going into this season and that’s the only part of our bullpen that is truly set.

He still has to win that role and it may be Perez who does since his rapport with the pitchers will be way higher one would think. Gomes usually caught Kluber, while Perez usually caught Bauer, the rest of the Staff seemed to be the same throwing to either guy.

I can only imagine the responses from the casuals.
