Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The blows are going to keep coming aren't they?

You want a continued great baseball team Cleveland? Beat the 455 streak.

The team has been the best regular season team in the AL since 2013 and fans still don’t support them at the ballpark. That streak will never be broken

I mean if they are going to blow up the roster, so be it... Don’t need to try and half ass it and rebuild / contend at the same time. If they trade Kluber to the Mets I will feel like Groundhogs day ala 2001 when they traded Robbie Alomar to them for dog feces.
Alex Escobar 5 tool cant miss prospect

Alomar was 34 when they moved on from him after the 2001 season which appeared to be justified because he played like ass for the Mets and only played over 100 games in a season twice after that.

Move worked out better for the Indians since they also got Matt Lawton in that move who was more productive than Alomar through 02-04. The Mets moved Alomar to the White Sox with in a year and a half then Alomar retired in 04 iirc.

They've traded Yan Gomes and the rest, to this point, are rumors. I've never seen a fan base get preemptively angry like this one. :chuckle:

Brandon Nimmo and Peter Alonso. Would need more but it's a good start....

I think that’s the point he’s making

You're not angry about watching Roberto Perez, the worst offensive player in the history of the game receive a bigger role? We all know Tito plays the guys he trusts more. Gomes was relatively cheap and under control while putting up pretty good stats from his position. Gomes was really good when he earned that money, fell off a cliff, then reemerged into a 1st time all-star. Definitely our best catcher in our system and we have no capable backup. Probably the weakest position in our whole organization and we traded our most fitted.

Not a winning move to dissemble like that. People can spin it however they want though. Gomes was a good Indian in the bigger picture.

1. It is December 2nd and the offseason is far from over.

2. We don't know if Roberto Perez will start, or if it will be Eric Haase - who has reportedly become a favorite of the Indians front office, or if it will be a guy not even on the roster right now.

3. I really liked Yan, but he was pretty bad to mediocre in the three seasons before that. He also couldn't stay on the field, only topping 100 games in a season 3 times in his career. Roberto Perez has also played much better when he's been the regular starter. There's a dropoff for sure, but I'm not sure it's as large as we may think.

Who Tito plays has little to do with trust

It has to do with who his bridge partner is. Shaw proved that

It definitely sucks, but the only reason they are doing this is because of money. When you have the 14th highest payroll, but only 21st at the gate, the team cant function like that over the long-term.

You would never see a contender in a large market putting Kluber on the trade market, but it is what it is, and until we draw better nothing will change. They are doing the best they can.

Yan Gomes was a good dude and a damn good operator behind the plate. His offense had been putrid for years before he erupted last year, and there are a few metrics that I remember seeing around early-mid September that are saying that it was kind of a fluky year for him.

He'll also turn 32 next year, and you never know when a catcher's knees/back are going to start screwing him over when they get into their early-mid 30s.

I was fine on selling high on him, because there's no chance his value would've ever been higher... I just still am not sold on the package we got for him.
