Cleveland State thread: 2010-2011

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I go to CSU and around campus there isn't a whole lot about the basketball team and how their doing I had no idea they were undefeated until I saw this thread. Only thing I see around campus are posters with the schedule on them.

Im questioning your fanhood.

I never said I was a fan. Im saying Cle St doesn't do a great job in hyping up their basketball team.

And that is the problem with a mid major team. But in an urban city like Cleveland, one would think the school would do a better job of promoting this team.
Unless they have an epic collapse, they would have won 20+ games in 3 of the last 4 years. They're 11-0 this year, went 16-17 last year, 25-10 in 08-09, 21-12 in 07-08. So it's not like they've all of a sudden been 'good'.

Strength of Schedule: 127

Just sayin...

Saw a little flash of a news on a video screen that said something along the lines of "Congrats Cleveland State being the first team in the midwest to reach 11-0"

Make that 12-0 and I'm paying attention from another school (I have friends who played CSU soccer). Anything with Cleveland attached gets my attention. That Sam Houston team was 5-2 going in, I can't wait for the WVU game.

Bryant U - 1-8 (Division II)
Iona - 7-3
Kent State - 7-3
Urbana - 2-8 (Division II)
Louisiana-Lafayette - 1-6
Akron - 4-2
Robert Morris - 4-5
St. Bonaventure - 5-3
Robert Morris - 4-5
Green Bay - 4-6
Milwaukee - 5-6
W. Virginia Tech - 5-5 (NAIA)
Sam Houston St. - 5-3

They have solid wins against some good mid-majors (Akron, Kent, Iona) but the rest of the schedule is filled with average mid-majors and crappy DII schools. Let's see what they do against some better competition before we start talking about them being a Top 25.

Understandable, but every school fills their schedule with bullshit teams. Akron, Kent, St. Bonnies & @ Sam Houston isn't exactly a cup cake. If they can hang with/beat WVU, it will go a long way. Wish they would show it on ESPiN

Every team schedules a D II cupcake, but most don't schedule three of them. They've got a good team, but I'm predicting a swift fall back down to earth starting Saturday.

The school consists of mostly commuters, so what do you expect?

*- In the Horizon League, therefore must play them

Please tell me a team that doesn't play a DII school their first game? They play Butler every year and they're consistantly in the top 25 every year. Wright State is also a decent college program that they play every year.

BTW they played the CSU Vs. Akron game on Big Ten Network. Don't know if they play every game on it...

Every team plays a DII school early on...most schools don't schedule three of them though.

As for Butler, I'm talking about the schedule so far that has allowed them to start 12-0, not the overall schedule.

FSOhio picked up the game vs. West Virginia this Saturday at 2 PM.

ESPN.com has an article up on their top 25 players so far this year in the NCAA, they had Norris Cole at 25.

Not sure if it was announced officially, but it appears CSU picked up Anton Grady out of Central Catholic. Big signing by Waters

Cole may not be hitting shit so far, but you can see why he's such an intriguing prospect and great bball player: He does everything else so well.
