Not even 10 games into his professional career. Maybe I could understand this critique after the AS break, by which point any young player should be showing signs of intellectual growth if not production, but at this point I hate that they are throwing the kid under the bus. Really shows the lack of leadership that this has come out, it is up to his teammates and coaches to lead by example. Instead of Hill telling him he will teach him how to play D, maybe he could show him on the bloody court.

There are ways a bad team can still be a positive learning experience, but allowing a chucker like Clarkson free reign and having no structure in place for a team wide system is not that.

Lol, okay. Maybe you're extrapolating stats over less than 10 NBA games with limited minutes. Or you're going by what he did in college. Well, this isn't college, and he's playing against bigger guys that aren't all inferior athletes. His only strength right now is his speed. And he can't really use it on offense since he's playing with Clarkson and he can't dribble. All his shots are flat. Has potential to defend other PGs well, but he is so far away from that right now. That being said I'd still much prefer him to be the starter and for Hill to play with Clarkson.

Yes, through 10 games analytically speaking it’s been a strength. Is it a skill he will be able to reproduce for the remainder of the year or his career is TBD. Sure he has weaknesses but most rookies do and the organization will have to find ways to put him in a position to succeed individually to build confidence. Nothing worse than not producing results while not developing your young guys.

Competely random, but it would appear Doncic is dealing with something similar when it comes to issues with certain vets on his team even though he’s playing much better than Sexton. Not sure what their problem is but I’ve seen too many games where they ice him out the way. Only the young guys like DSJ will actually look to pass to him.

Man, his handle is suspect. Needs to tighten it up.

Does he lose the handle before his footing or his footing before his handle. I’m still unsure but it happened unforced a few times

Man this.

He can't keep control of anything when he gets contacted in the lane. Ball goes flying, body goes off balance.

LOL we aren't even ten games into a 19 year old's career. Sarcasm doesn't work when you jump the gun this early. He is, was, and will be a project at PG.

And right now, this team is a horrible place to be a young player who needs to learn. The environment is toxic because the veterans resent the younger guys.

The body language of Sexton and Clarkson makes it seem like they're playing for opposite teams.

I think Sexton mirrors how long term of a project the Cavs are. The vets that will be long long gone in two years were the ones that made tonight’s game competitive vs a bad team. I think I am still in shock as to how many vet posters wanted to go balls to the wall to try to get to 40 wins with this roster.

Sexton has a long long way to go, but so does this franchise. I don’t know if we can build a winner until we have a qualified front office, then a long term answer with the coaching staff and a hands off Dan Gilbert who only signs checks.

My point, it may take another failed rebuild for Dan to learn his lesson or even sell the team 5 years from now when he finally puts all his time in the city of Detroit.

If Sexton turns out to be average at best that will be the first major sign that this rebuild is going to fail. Still too early to call, but it gives many fans pause because we are going to have a top 5 pick this summer and no one can honestly feel comfortable with Dan and Kolby making the decision.

100%. When you add it all up, he is a point guard who needs to learn and develop, but is playing next to jordan clarkson, has next to no weapons, is 10 games into a career and already onto his 2nd coach, the vets have been sulking it up, nobody is in sync or on the same page yet he is expected to know what the fuck he is doing. It is honestly a laughable situation.
