And right now, this team is a horrible place to be a young player who needs to learn. The environment is toxic because the veterans resent the younger guys.

We saw the vets basically freeze out Sexton today. Dekker and Nance seem like the only guys willing to pass to him. The lack of minutes tonight was disappointing.

The adjustments Sexton makes from game to game or even with in game is a bright spot compared to Cedi. I think Sexton is very self aware and if he got 43 minutes tonight like Cedi did, we most likely would have seen the best of him at the end. I'm not bashing Cedi, each player is different. I just currently hate how we are developing Sexton.

I wonder if they blame him for lues firing? It is really disgusting that they are coming down on a 19 yr rookie like that. I was always told that the quickest way to learn is by making mistakes.

I think Sexton was just the easy target. He is the rookie PG who is splitting minutes with Hill. Hill puts up more effective numbers but his points and assists are very similar to Sextons. It seems like JR is buddy's with Clarkson. It's hard for players to look in the mirror to go from champions to what we currently are.

Tonight probably won't help the situation because Sexton got a season low minutes and the team almost won. Splitting the vets from the young guys seems like what makes the most sense now. This team won't come together until the alot of the vets are moved.

Remember when Coach John Lucas played a scrimmage of vets vs. young players when Boozer was a rookie to prove a point?

Why am I thinking back fondly of the Halcyon Days of Coach Lucas and powder blue seats?

Zizic would have been in his glory though, because Coach Lucas loved to play his beegs.

The good thing about Collin Sexton is that he doesn't seem to know what he's doing at all. So, room to grow!

You have to know they are mistakes though. He's a PG, but when guys come open on those curls, he doesn't let the ball go for the obvious pass, he's not reading the screens well, and forget about defense. What drives me nuts is the Cavs SHOULD have the right situation for Sexton to learn under. They have a steady above average vet playing the 1, Collin simply has to mimic Hill and he should be fine.
But the culture stinks, I'm hoping Drew calms the fires now that the contract is settled. I hope he gets Sexton minutes where he can be productive. I hope he does get taken under Hill's wing and he's open to listen.
Right now, I think my ceiling for Collin is maybe Tony Parker (?) who also had that odd set shot coming into the league and a lighting quick first step. It would take a ton of things going right for him to reach that. Tony had a Championship squad surrounding him a firm grasp of the fundamentals at 19.
As it stands now, he's kind of set up to be a little better than Ramon Sessions.
I really liked Mikal Bridges at #8, and was intrigued by Shai (though it sounds like he wanted nothing to do w/Cavs), Knox has show flashes.. so Sexton will always be compared to those 2 (plus Knox I guess, though I didn't have him for the Cavs) to me.
I guess time will tell.

It is so easy to give up on guys so quickly it seems in today's NBA. In fact, the league is littered with players who's original team didn't reap the reward of the player they drafted.

I think Colin will figure it out. His pass to Double T was nice. When I watch him play, he's still doing a WHOLE lot of thinking out of there and that needs to become more of a reactionary came for him. That is where he excels and where he will need to get. When we drafted him, I thought he'd have a Gary Payton sort of rookie season. I think he's lined up precisely for that.

The Vets just want to win and compete secure their careers.

Yeah he looks like his brain is in overload. Not really seeing any natural flare that he showed in college. It's a huge learning curve for him right now.

He doesn't seem comfortable at all out there but I'm confident when he does things will slowly fall in place.

Wish he was with spurs , Celtics

Sexton would get the right training and studying done under a competent coaching and executive team staff

Calm down Francis. Once the game slows down for him he will still be fast. It’s early. Plus he was the 8th pick.

Sexton is 19. Lots of growing to o physically and mentally. Im already excited about pairing him with Zion or Barrett.
