I’m trying to come around on the pick but there’s one problem... Lue and rookies. So Sexton plays his ass off and is a competitor? So was Cedi. Look how Cedi continuously slid down the bench in the playoffs and how long it took for him to get any minutes.

Sexton will just be another Lue casualty.

People seem to be trating this like a top 5 pick.
It wasn't.
Cavs got a 2 way player who can have impact as a freshman.

some are rather dismissive of his ability to play in transition. yet I see him turning regular plays into transition frequently.

This is a 19 year old kid of course he is gonna have aspect of his game that needs improved.

personally im not going to question the the guys aptitude to improve his game as someone who turned himself from a nobody to a 5 star prospect.

Cavs needed a scoring guard who can defend on the switch. That's exactly what we got.

He isn't Kyrie Irving. there wasn't a Kyrie Irving in the draft but he does have a lot of potential and suits the teams needs with or without LeBron.

Im okay with this pick. how his game evolves in the NBA will be whatever it is

I think there is still disappointment bc we thought we traded Kyrie for a top-3 pick in a loaded draft, not the #8. And one of the supposed reasons for the loadedness threw his back out.

Shoutout to the Alonzo Gee Cavs jersey at 4:37

Lmao good catch. Not a lot of UofA players to fill that wall.

As far Saxton, I've seen enough rookies on the Cavs since '10 to know to never get excited about these guys. We will know what Collin is in 2 years.

Also that barber saying the "8th pick" three times means this kid was likely given a promise. No coincidence that Lloyd kept saying his name as far back as the end of the regular season.

We can play revisionist history of the Chris Grant era all day, but the Cavs found themselves in a position where Irving and Dion already had so many overlapping skills they hated each other. So much of that, looking back, were about their ability to be good teammates and inability to work in a system. Then here comes Oladipo, who could have been a Dion clone if he didn't have a better head on his shoulders. The best move was to cut bait on Dion and trade him for a veteran forward, then draft Oladipo. Or just draft the Greek Freak, who we heard the scouts loved. Oh well, this is the rabbit hole that ends in a bottle of cheap booze by lunch. No thank you.
It's not revisionist history to say that Dan Gilbert might just be using this pick as a do-over for the one that got away.:chuckle:

Yeah, I know.

Oladipo was ridiculous. It was a comparison that buzz dog had made.

Though, I don't love the Eric Bledsoe comparison much.
Front Page is talking like Sexton is chopped liver (he don't seem to care for the kid much). The kid did high jump 6'8" in high school, won some slam dunk competitions. He's not exactly a slouch athletically.

All I know is Sexton better stop talking about Kobe in his interviews and start give props to Lebron. Respect the GOAT Lebron young Bull.
