Current Record: 13-53...Samardo & Shyt.. Undersized Twin Towers take no prisoners !!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Current Record: 10-46...Clippers and Lakers.... SUCK IT L.A. !!!

I don't have a problem with losing a few ping pong balls. I'm not 100% sold on Irving, and it's pretty much understood that the rest of the top 6 or so players are about equal... Either High ceiling, low floor or High floor, low ceiling...

So, basically... We win a few more games, end up with the 3rd or 4th pick... MattyFos=Cool with that!!

It should also be noted that having the worst record means anything but the #1 pick, if you aren't the Orlando Magic(who did that twice, winning the lottery and drafting Shaq + Howard).

Anyone else, who had the worst record, did not win the draft lottery and had to settle for the #2 pick or worse.

Re: Current Record: 10-46...Clippers and Lakers.... SUCK IT L.A. !!!

I just see no point in winning 16 games and ending up with less of a chance at getting the first pick than one would if they had won 11 games. Could care less if this draft doesn't have a lot of talent, the higher the pick the better the chances are at landing a good player. Is this not what we should all want? To land the best player possible? Hell, if the goal is to win more games, let's just take that TPE and use it on Elton Brand and go win some more games.

Did you forget how we got LeBron? Or does tying for the worst record not count?

CRAP, I had a nice, well though out answer and clicked the wrong button.... Clicked "Reply to Thread" instead of "Post Quick Reply" after I wrote it out..... KILL ME PLEASE.... Be right back.. have to channel it from memory.

Yeah, I stand corrected.

Still, owning the leagues worst record does not mean winning the lottery, as most of the times you do not win it with the worst record.

Re: Current Record: 10-46...Clippers and Lakers.... SUCK IT L.A. !!!

Ok,
If we miss out on Irving this year. We can get Teague(Scout #1 PG for 2012) next season. If we miss on Teague next season. We can get Hill(Scout #1PG) in 2013(DRAFT DRUMMOND INSTEAD). There will always be PG's at the top of the draft. Hell, just grab whoever Calipari recruits. After Irving you can take the next 5-6 players and throw their names into a hat (Joneses, Barnes, Sully, Kanter, Lithuanian, Williams) randomly select a name and come up with a list about why he should be taken #1-#6.

(EDIT- The best way to read the next paragraph is to take a big breath like Ace Ventura and read it all at once..)

I personally would prefer to add the PG later in the rebuilding process. Taking a big/project like PJIII/Lithuanian/Kanter and allow them to play with Mo or Sessions would help them develop faster. Mo and Sessions are better NBA PG's right now than Irving. Plus PG's can easily make the transition whereas a Big/Project would take a few years to "Come into his own". So we'd have Jones(as an example, I like him a lot but I LOVE DWILL) developing next season allowing us to get another top 3 pick. Netting us Rivers/Teague/Gilchrist/Irving(if he stays)... Then with Jones still developing and us turning over our roster to a younger team (dumping Mo, Antawn, Andy) We may not be a top 5 pick. But bundling our pick with the Heat's pick in 2013 may get us a shot at drafting Drummonds...

Re: Current Record: 10-46...Clippers and Lakers.... SUCK IT L.A. !!!

it's 10 wins.

Was responding to Jon's "this is the type of win we should've gotten" claim, we went into the game with 9.

I hear this a lot, but you could say the exact same thing for all other positions in the lottery: "most of the time you don't win it" with that position. That doesn't change the fact that you still have the best odds of winning with the worst record, and almost a 50/50 chance of drafting either #1 or #2.

Incidentally, in 25 lotteries the worst, second worst, and third worst teams have all won the lottery the same number of times: 4 each. The FIFTH worst team has won it 5 times (most recently last year, when the Wizards won it). The superstitious sports fan would therefore root for the 5th worst record, but since past events do not affect future events in probability, they would of course be wrong to do so.

Re: Current Record: 10-46...Clippers and Lakers.... SUCK IT L.A. !!!

All this winning is disrupting the Force. Yoda says we need to get the most ping pong balls.

Re: Current Record: 10-46...Clippers and Lakers.... SUCK IT L.A. !!!

This is most definitely not the sort of win we should have gotten.

Having been on the other side of these types of wins so many times for the past 5 years, yeah, I'd say it's to be expected. Seems every season the worst teams in the league will knock off the best.

I wish it was a sign of things coming together ... that the team is learning the systems, has dedicated itself to D, and has re-gained the confidence lost after the Heat game, but I don't have my hopes up. I'm thinking we might get back to normal at least and finish off the season a little more respectably. The losing streak definitely was an anomoly.

The cavs had worse record and got lebron.

Yeah, you can argue both ways.

Still, the worst record does not the you the #1 pick, most of the time.

So winning some games(which is a lot more fun for us fans) isn't all that bad, even if we end up with the 2nd or 3rd worst record.

I think any of the "top 5" teams worst record wise have got about the same chance to win the #1 pick.

Though, having the worst record means you're not going to get anything less then the #4 pick.

Some fans really need to embrace the suck.

Yeah.

It's certainly better then being in the middle stuck in the middle of nowhere not having any cap space and playing for something like the #12 - #16 pickj year in and out.

For example, a team like the Bucks certainly is better then the Cavs right now, but they're stuck being mediocre, thanks to those crappy contracts like Gooden's etc.
