Dahntay Jones is back

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think you guys are grossly inflating his value. At 29, he is what he is......if he were 22 or 23, I would be scratching my head.....but he's old enough to where I just don't see why anyone would be particularly attached to him.

Liggins plays hard, is a team guy but he doesn't do anything particularly well at the NBA level. At least not to the degree where you can't just go out and get a similar guy who's nearing 30 with similar length. He's just good enough to have on your bench (as a practice body). To me, those guys are always expendable.

His discernible NBA talent is that he was the best wing defender on the team. He was the best pg defender on the team. That isn't nothing.

anyone from inside the Cavaliers organization actually come out and said this is a done deal? I didn't think so.
Don't be surprised if this is yet again another attempt by Reichert & Haynes to be the first to know something only to find out they knew nothing.
Dahntay Jones does nothing to fill any of the gaps on this roster at all, and signing him makes no sense at all. Not to mention waiving Liggins to do it,our former top dog on ball defender, lessens the odds Griffin would be so tight monetarily to make such a shot in the dark transaction happen, knowing it worsens our chances to repeat this season nine times out of ten. Give me a damn rebound specialist or a paint enforcer please not a crusty old high iq no legs hasn't played has been.

This was a cost-cutting move Griff made that saves Gilbert 2.5 million in luxury taxes. Smart move for a free agent GM considering Ty Lue was never going to play him.

D Jones makes sense because of familiarity. Sullinger would've been massively better but we took a nosedive after every acquisition this year which is odd for a championship team with many vets. He will give great high fives and scare opponents when they shoot a corner three near our bench.

Curious about why there is such heavy discussion over what Jones can contribute on the floor (and comparisons between him and Liggins), as if this wasn't a move made explicitly for the sake of comradery and towel-waving.

Dahntay was very good during the Finals last year in the glorified cheer-leader role - that's from what we saw during the broadcasts. But I'm sure that, behind the scenes, he must mean so much more to this team. Otherwise, it doesn't make any sense.

Liggins was never seeing minutes this post-season. Neither will Dahntay. But the latter appears likely to provide something intangible to this team behind the scenes.

No acquisition was ever going to contribute meaningful minutes this post-season so why waste the dollars when you can re-inject a formula that seemingly contributed to the prosperity of last season?

This is a stupid move, but here's me trying to justify it.

He's the cheap shot artist we don't have that you kinda need in the playoffs during 7 game series. If the Cavs are getting roughed up, he might make a 2 minute appearance before getting tossed.

That's all I got.

Locker room guy probably too.

How many playoff hardened vets does a team need? I just don't buy that narrative. Every player on this team outside of like 2 has been in the league a long time and all made deep playoff runs. Even the new guys like Korver and Deron.

Maybe this year he will punch Draymond in the nuts.

Its stupid and not a great reason but I really think this might be it.

You get in a 7 game series with a rival, someone is bound to do some dirty shit.

As our roster stands, we have no one that will take shots back, or no one we want doing it (like JR Smith). We had Perkins. Last year we had Jones. Both got suspended for us during their time here. Might just feel we lack that right now.

:chuckle: Of all the things this roster lacks and different ways it can be improved, this is the need we feel is the most important to address.
