Dahntay Jones is back

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Let hope he does not see the court unless it is a blow out.

Is it conceivable we'd have Shump and DJ on the court at the same time? With Lebron and Delly we shoud be able to keep wings at bay, no?

Yes, we will be able to keep the wings at bay with that lineup. Unfortunately, we will also keep our scoring at bay with that lineup.

Damon Jones. James Jones. Dahntay Jones.

What a big three we've assembled here in Cleveland.

I guess the other big 3 is doing their best to keep up with the Joneses.

Yeah, i should probably be banned for that one.

I didn't watch the game. Been unwell for the past couple of weeks and with LeBron, Kyrie, Love and JR etc not playing, I decided to skip the game as the tip off was around 05:00 AM here. So, I checked NBA app to see the results and score. Saw we had some dude name D Jones playing 40 odd mins and scoreing 13 points with 6-14 from the field and 1-2 from the three point line.

First thing that came to my mind?

When the motherfucking fuck did we get Damon Jones back and that too to play? And how the fuck could he play 40 fucking mins considering how he looked when I had seen a pic of him early in the season. :chuckle:

Jones could be the kind of guy you stick out there to counter a GS small-ball setup. Let him take on defending someone like Thompson, allow Delly/Shump to stay with Curry, and let LeBron "rest" slightly against Igudala, with TT on Green. As noted elsewhere, Kyrie defends against bigger guys OK, and he could stay with Barnes possibly. Some time off between games in the first round would allow Jones some time to get used to the offense and defense a bit.

I think we need to take a back step and relax.

Piston's second unit is one thing and Golden State/Spurs are totally another. Lets see how he does in the EC Playoffs.

Is he better than an empty spot at the end of the bench? That's the only question.
since he is a vet who always plays hard defense i would say yes.. I mean even if its just 10 Minutes in 1 Game in the whole playoffs.. better to have a guy like him then not have him at all^^

I think everyone needs to pump the brakes on Jones.

Expecting him to do anything is setting yourself up for failure IMO.

Could he potentially play a small role? I mean, maybe but he's played in only 60 ish NBA games since the 2012-13 season.

He seems like just a vet, in case of emergency, let him go foul some guys signing. Guess we'll see.

I didn't watch last night but curious how he looked? Obviously anyone could look good against a second unit but more concerned with how he looked athletically...lateral quickness and foot speed ok?

Yeah, he honestly looks like he has plenty of athleticism in the tank. Tough to assess the lateral stuff after one game but he looks like he can certainly still play physically. Wether he can be worked in to the rotation or find any kind of role is unlikely though.

If you get desperate, he certainly seems like a more athletic option than someone like Jefferson.

He moved well and looked like he'd been with the team a while.

I'm not one to get excited by a 15th man but he plays with some edge and he doesn't back down. Cavs need as much of that as they can get
