Damn, Jimmy G this is some serious good quarterbacking.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Jimmy G. and missing out on him doesn't bother me as much as the past failures we've made.

It just seems to be rolling into one snowball of failure and suck.

It's incredible how you can telegraph how the Browns handle trying to address the QB position since 2004.

-We suck, but not enough to sign a good QB (2005, 2010, 2012 come to mind). We settle on signing a "Bridge" QB who's had moderate success (Jake Delhomme, Trent Dilfer) while the young guy sits on the bench...at first we're told for a full season. But then he's rushed into action and we find out why he slipped into the later rounds

-We suck. Enough to take a QB or skill position of our choice. (2009, 2011, 2014, 2016). We decide that rather than take advantage of winning the lottery? We trade down. The player we gave up is the toast of the league, and we're stuck at rock bottom.

-We're mediocre/close to good or the draft class is that (2006, 2007, 2013)..

It's an incredible cycle to see unfold. It has to stop. What I just typed above is the reason we're about to be the worst football team in history. It should have never came to this. Yet it did.

if the Browns truly thought Garropolo would solve their QB issues. It's obvious they didn't, otherwise they would have gotten a deal done.

There is reporting out there that is readily available with a quick google search that proves this false.

Terry Pluto reported that the Browns called the Patriots literally days before the deadline and said something along the lines of “we’re very interested in Jimmy, what will it take?”

The Browns were NOT told “you’re not offering enough” or “if you offer X, we will make the move with you”.

The Browns were told flat out, in no uncertain terms “we aren’t interested in trading Jimmy”.

Then the Patriots turned around and dealt him to another team for less than what the Browns offered numerous times over, including that week. Unless you wanted the Browns to do some sort of Ricky Williams-like offering up the entire draft.

Shit on Sashi for “biffing” on Wentz or Watson all you want, but not for this. There was nothing that could be done in this case.

Regardless of what their reasons were, whether it was respect for Jimmy, doing a solid for Don Yee, the ability to get Hoyer back, it doesn’t matter what the reason was really.

Bill Belichick took a lesser trade offer from the 49ers than what he could have gotten from the Browns. This has been confirmed by numerous people who are way more plugged in than any of us.

Bet 500 on the niners over 4.5 wins and just need one more Jimmy... this is the weekend

After trading for Jimmy G, they had no reason to keep Hoyer.

I think people read way too much into the "he once played here" scenario.

Hoyer was on the verge of being benched, and run out of the league arguably.

He's not good.

I don't know why anyone would pretend like the Pats getting Hoyer is a serious deal bargain.

It's just a coincidence. One, they didn't have a backup now. And two, sure, he once played there and at least knows the system. Doesn't mean THAT is a deal breaker.

I just find it seriously hysterical anyone would suggest the Pats would turn down higher value in a trade, just to get Brian Fuckin' Hoyer.

Don't make me laugh.

It's like saying the Browns should turn down a better trade, if they could get back Brandon Fuckin' Weeden, because he once played here and knows the system. :chuckle:

I don’t think Hoyer is valuable, and, no, I didn’t think he was worth them taking less in any deal.

The point is that he was absolutely discussed and it was decided that he would be cut, and sign with NE while he was on the 49er roster.

It’s pretty clearly something that shouldn’t have been allowed.

In fact, now you'd probably trade Garrett for him straight up. It's another fuck up.

The Hoyer shit means nothing.

They could've traded him in the off season when they had Brissett. Who's better than Hoyer already.

in Vegas labor day weekend...got pretty drunk and bet 500 on niners over 4.5 to win 800

So you gotta go back out there to cash the ticket, right? That'll be fun... If I am you, I am looking into hedging at this point. Not saying I'd do it, but I'd look into it. I'd find the best odds of the opposite bet now, and compare those to a parlay on the Jags & Rams (not sure how easy it is to find a Rams game 2 weeks out).

Jimmy G. would have been a great pickup but I don't believe for one second that Bill B. and the Pats were going to send him to this disaster of a franchise.

I do fault Sashi for not having a credible veteran QB on the roster. There are a number of them who would have made this team borderline respectable and saved Kizer from being thrown to the dogs. But it was never going to be Jimmy G.

And 2 think we had a certain Josh McCown in our roster who would have filled that exact same role that we are looking for!

McCown had his best season this year since he was in Chicago, but it ended exactly how you would expect a McCown season to end...
