Helin was the one who was also saying Blatt was going to get fired whether the Cavs won a title or not. He's another poo flinger.

LeBron will get credit, but David Blatt deserves a pat on the back on Cleveland. Will be interesting to see if he gets it.

Gaining new appreciation for this Cavs team game by game. Defense is great, guys step up, Blatt’s adjustments terrific.

So how do you explain all the hate on Twitter? It doesn't make any sense.

Like LeBron said. Blatt is getting heat because of who he's coaching. I've seen so much uninformed nonsense over this last month about Blatt that is almost always wrong but it usually comes down to the speaker's presupposition of "hurrdurr LeBron coaches that team" etc.,

Is Blatt a Zionist?
Yes he is. Made Aliya (immigrated to Israel due to Zionism) after participation in Maccabiya games.

The same people that complain Blatt doesn't get a fair roll of the dice harp on about anti-Zionism, anti-Semitism blah blah fucking blah.

He's a basketball coach, there is no "agenda" against the Zionist Jew. He's getting a hard time for a billion reasons, many unfair, but that is not one of them. Here is a little list of reasons that rank above that for reasons of his extra scrutiny:

1. He's the first NBA head coach to come straight from Europe.
2. He's coaching LeBron James.
3. He's made some legitimate errors that deserved criticism.

It's nauseating when people make it about that. If it's not about basketball, keep it to yourself I say; it's just embarrassing.

Faithfully,

A Zionist Jew.

I have this uneasiness that probably there is an agenda against the Zionist-Jew that for obvious political correctness reasons cannot be out there in the open.
It is probably at the very least a component in Blatt's situation with the Media/Twitter.

I feel like we have one Israeli fan posting under 37 different profiles.
We did have one posting as "David Blatt" and on another account, can't remember the name...when he clearly accidentally posted on one account instead of the other and I pointed it out the account Uh disappeared

Highly doubt that it is on anyone's mind.

When Blatt was first hired, some posters who were not fans of the move argued that some black players might not relate to Blatt well because of the whole Palestine issue. That discussion was eventually moved to another thread because it was deemed inappropriate here.

So, there are at least a few anti-Blatt folks for whom that concern was an issue, but we have no idea if there was any truth to it or not. And, more importantly, this wouldn't be the thread for it anyway.

I speculated before that Blatt has the "new kid in school problem". There had to be some resentment against him from some American coaches (and former players) who were insulted at the idea that someone from outside the NBA would be qualified. So there were some folks who were probably gunning for him from the start just on general principle.

You also had particular individuals who may have either wanted that job themselves, or thought that Lue or someone else may have deserved it more. Kind of "those damn foreigners are coming here and taking our jobs" thing. So, that's another source of possible resentment.

Then, you have the media types who often develop good relationships with NBA coaches/assistants/players, etc., who become inside sources for them and help advance their careers. That includes guys at ESPN and TNT who are used to telling anecdotes about particular coaches, etc.. As a newcomer, Blatt deprived them all of that that.

So you had all the potential for negative press, and on the flip side, he had no pre-existing media allies/supporters as would a coach coming from the NBA or college. So when people started crapping on him, there wasn't anyone going to stick their nose out to defend them. It was all one-sided.

So, like the new kid who gets crap, Blatt is going to have to beat up a few of the bullies -- prove them wrong by winning a championship -- before they'll back off. If he's lucky, he may get some of that respect even if he doesn't win the fights as long as he makes a good showing.

His only other hope is if the toughest kid in school -- LBJ - decides to publicly take his side and tell everyone else to back off.

But otherwise, it's the hand that he's been dealt, and the truth is that it shouldn't comes as a surprise to him or anyone else.
