Davis a Clipper

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
yikes...this was not a good day for the cavaliers

I guess Ron Artest might still be an option but I was really hoping to shore up the 2 spot before the season...

again I repeat my feelings from the other day...we are really going to ave to wait till the trade deadline before we make our move IMO

and that sucks for us

And then we're going to stay up all night on Bibby[Fill In Name] Watch and go to bed at 3am. Get up for work..feel like shit all day and know that Ferry has been sleeping since like 10pm last night.

Then we can all say.."Well this upcoming summer is gonna be huge."

And then it'll come and nothing happens, and we'll say "Wait till the deadline we're going to get some good players...book it."

And we don't...

And then it's summer time and LeBron is a Free Agent. We don't have forever to get some players in here that could actually contribute on the collegiate level. Ferry has to get something done. Whether it's a small upgrade or something...signing Chris ****ing Duhon isn't doing it for me.

Exactly. It seems like we're always saying "Just wait untl ________", yet it never happens.

Oh, and on a side note, I have to bring this up. Anyone else find it funny that Davis wasted no time in signing with L.A., despite Stephen A. Smith promising everyone that he'd love to play in N.Y.? With how quickly he reached a deal with L.A., it seems the thought of playing for the Knicks never even crossed Davis' mind. :chuckles:

Last deadline's move wasn't huge or anything.... right?! Come on.

Ferry has had such a great opportunity to make moves after Hughes crapped out and Marshall decided he was ready for a wheel chair, right?! Please.

Last year we waited for the deadline expectantly, and we got that huge deal. It got rid of trash and gave us expirings plus some help for that season. Stop the negativity. How did you expect Ferry to make a play for Davis? Use the MLE? Riiiiiiiight. Perhaps he could have traded AV for Baron straight up? Oh wait, AV can't be traded until December anyway (and who the f*** would accept that deal?). Well he could have packaged all the expirings together plus Gibson (Lebron's main man) or Delonte (the closest thing to a point guard) or atrocious contract of Big Ben or the aging Z.

In our, and Danny's, dreams. Be real here man, we all wanted something to go down at the draft. But once that (not as valuable as some thought) #19 pick was chosen by us, this offseason was for all intents and purposes done in terms of a big name player.

So yes, we wait until the deadline. When Andy can be traded, and will be more valuable. When Sasha will have potentially regained his value. When teams will be more willing to dump their stars with their sub-.500 records. When those expirings look even more delicious to other GMs. Something will go down at the deadline, because now the parts are in place. They haven't been in place since the day we locked up Hughes (and Marshall.... and Jones). Even still Ferry worked a big trade last year out of little to work with. He got a young PF to replace Andy when he leaves.

And if for some reason Ferry fails then I'll be first to bring out my flamethrower.

how can you say nothing ever happens - we made the 3rd biggest trade in the history of the NBA last year. All 4 guys we brought in were key players in the playoffs where we came the closest of anyone in the league in knocking off the eventual world champions - we had the ball down just 1 point with 2 minutes left in game 7 with a lineup who only played 13 games together all year, the 13 playoff games.

The knicks are tying their own hands with their 2010 dreams. Who's going to sign a 2 year deal there when they get more years elsewhere. They can't offer a longer deal and stay under the cap in 2010. They can't leverage their expiring contract in Marbury to take a long term contract back from another team to get better. They can't trade any of their expiring deals next year. They can't pay Nate Robinson or David Lee when they expire this year. Even without doing any of that, they may still have to move one of Randolf, Curry or Crawford for expiring contracts ahead of 2010. Andy they have to do all of this while building a playoff caliber team to have a shot at any of the big name free agents.

Excellent point....which also happens to apply to the Nets.

I see nothing major happening anytime soon. Although we do have some assets in expiring contracts, usually they are only utilized near the deadline for superstars, unless the expiring is a superstar. So we do have wally, snow and andy(kind of) but most team are gonna see how the season pans out and the quit last minute when their teams suck. So we will get someone good(subjective to us and ferry) but we will have to wait some more which suck because the players need time to mesh together(ala boston). Hopefully who we get is on the team USA so LeBron will have experience with him.

Damn, how come when we have free agent money we get Larry Hughes:(

Did not see this at all, and im still not understanding how they can sign both Davis and Brand ??

When they renounced Maggette and Livingston and when Brand opted out that gave them enough money under the cap to sign Baron Davis. Now since they didn't renounce Brand and they hold his bird rights they are allowed to go over the salary cap to re-sign him.

The Clippers have a good team next year, at least on paper. Baron and Mobley is a good back court and they might swap him for Crawford. But if they start Thronton at SF they'll need someone like Andy for big man depth. I wonder who the Cavs are more interested in, Childress or Maggette. Hawks and Clippers could probably use Andy.

Did anyone ever find out if the Clippers renounced Maggette's rights to sign Baron?

I'm sure the Clippers would accept Varejao and an expiring for Maggette since he's going to leave anyway.

The question is, does Maggette want to come here?
No not really , he was/is trying to get to Orlando BUT if the Cavs work a deal out..doesn't matter..few players GET to go where they want or get to stay where they want.

The clippers did renounce his rights so he cant even snt

maggette scores the ball much like how Lebron scores the ball. Obviously he isn't the play maker but as a scorer they score the ball basically the same way. They are very similar in that aspect. However, Lebron is a little bit better overall. :)

If we get a free agent that score 20+ points 4 asist s rebounds and leads the league in scoring this summer will everyone be happy with ferry? Because that was Hughes before he came here. Not sure how that was a bad signing at the time, he just didnt work out.

Everyone needs to read about Maggette. He is now an unrestriced free agent. Will not...can not be traded. He will sign with who can offer him more than the mle or the team offering the mle that he wants to. Probably will be orlando. If we are healthy, we might not be as bad at sg as we think.
