Deshaun Watson: Third Highest Paid QB in the AFC North (OUT for 2023)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My biggest question is, can he properly run the running attack in Cleveland? He has always been in a pass first offense..
He's an excellent running threat so our offense will be on steroids, like a cheat code.

Of course not, but nobody is saying that.

You’re just fooling yourself if you think Deshaun Watson is going to be in the game manager role that Mayfield was.

Well I am just wondering if he can call some of the plays at the line or not. Essentially he has options at the line we're he reads the opposing defense and can change it at the line of scrimmage.

I think that's were Stef and Mayfield didn't get along. It felt like they weren't on the same page when it comes to which play should be called and with the roster we have, if the QB can make some decisions/calls at the line to adjust I think it would be smart. Just don't know of Watson has done that before.

I recall he played well in that shitty game vs. the Browns in 2020. Baker was decent, but they didn't really let him throw. Baker was 12-for-20 with 132 yards, Watson went 20-for-30 with 163 yards and 1 TD.
I recall that game as well. the weather and the wind didn't seem to deter Watson from completing passes much if at all.

It's a good question, but I haven't watched him closely enough to have an answer. I'm sure someone who pays more attention to such things will weigh in.

See I haven't either. I was never all that fond of Watson or O'Brien so its not a team I watched a lot.

I think if he could though, with the roster we should have on paper, I think we end up with the best team possible. Stef calls the set, Watson calls the on field play to adjust to what he sees. It's more work on the players in a way, but I think the best chance of winning

Those kinds of details are important but I think the head coach and quarterback figure that out over a period of time, maybe multiple seasons before they get it dialed in. I see no reason why Watson wouldn't be able to audible effectively and I assume he'll be able to audible a lot better than Baker ever did right out of the starting gate.

The biggest benefit of Watson over Baker is that we've all seen, he can take a game over and be the reason his team wins. Watson can definitely execute the position at the highest level. I recall watching Watson thinking he could score on any drive unless the defense was perfect, and I NEVER felt that way about Baker as much as I wanted it to be true.

If Watson is even close to what he has shown us in Houston, the Browns are going to be much, much better.

Buddy boy, I want you to get excited.
