Diet and Workout Routines

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I dropped about 20 lbs in completing Insanity. What I find is that it can be mentally taxing if you are trying to keep up with the people on the screen. If you just do your thing, and legitimately push yourself to completion (even if at a slower pace), you will succeed and be in great shape once its over.

I agree. I am in pretty damn good shape. And I even take 5-10sec breaks every so often.

The people in Insanity take breaks as well. He's always telling people to get water and take a break. I use them as motivation, tell myself that I can't let a woman in her 40s beat me.

I've completed Insanity before. I'm looking to add some more cardio to my workout. I'm debating between starting Insanity back up or rolling with the Spartacus workout 3 days a week. Anyone give Spartacus workout a try?

I started back with my Total Gym workouts. I'm on the Long and Lean workout program. Since I can do these workouts at home, I figure work is where I'll do mostly cardio. I do HIIT on the treadmill. I rather do a cardio workout than strength training.

I'm not a pre-workout person, but I can recommend quite a few:

Mr Hyde
Redline
Celcius Heat
Extreme Shock
C4- RTD

Damn 15 pounds in a month and a half. I might have to try that. I put on about 10 pounds during the winter. At about 212 now. I'd like to get down to about 195 by June when I'm going on vacation to myrtle beach.

TL;DR: Give Insanity a go. You will definitely lose your winter weight. You don't have to stick to a hardcore diet. Just eat in moderation. Give yourself cheat days. Slay bitches in Myrtle Beach.

I would give it a try then.

And like my many previous posts, I eat pretty damn healthy during the week, and weekends I pretty much do whatever I want. Had a BE&C combo meal from McD's this morning. But then just ate a healthy protein bar (healthy as in 1g of sugar, baked, 30g. protein Think it was that Robert Irvine guys bar) gonna workout when I get off of here, then probably go eat some wings for dinner during the Cavs at a bar meeting friends in Cbus.

So just showing it can still be done without sticking to a hardcore diet. I don't diet. I still eat carbs, chocolate, etc. I just do it in moderation. I have not cut a single thing out of my meal plan. Just limit during the week. Then I turn into pacman during the weekend and eat anything that's in my way.

nah not really, my appetite stays pretty low now that im used to cutting regardless of the flavors... i dont have any evidence, but it seems reasonable to think that the sweet taste could like trigger your sweet tooth
Ive been looking into this

Sugar substitutes are loosely linked to having similar impacts as actual sugar. Science isnt conclusive as far as im aware.

Couple points.. Motion sickness is your mind not cooperating with the velocity at which youte travelling. Youre moving at one rate and your brain is not accepting it. It thinks its poisoned, and you become ill. Reading in a car exacerbates thr problem. Look out the window so your brain can comprehend whats happening more accurately.

Been a problem for me for as long as i can remember. Dont know how common it is, but in case anyone else had that problem..

Sugar is also the devil. Been trying to fix my motion sickness with ice cream and the addiction metastasized. Trying to kill it now. Sick and tired, like always. Dont eat fucking sugar.

I am so fucking sick. Im not kidding with this post. Please help.

I am nauseas beyond belief. I cant look at any electronic screen without getting sick. I cannot look up what is wrong with me or find urgentl care bc of this. Its been going on for a few days.

Really reallt short breath. Feels like motion sickness. Gets awful. I can sleep through it sometimes. It happens oncr a year. Last time was over summer, another time was start of fall. I thoughg i was over this. I thought it was bc i was taking accutane but i am sick again.

If someone can research it, please do. If someone can googlr urgent care for around 100$ near zipcode 92109 please do.

You can try and call 858-230-7770, they don't have prices on their website, however.

Or here: https://www.marquemedical.com/

Or honestly, they may not be as "great" but Walgreens and CVS I believe have urgent care's that pretty much take every insurance. I think you are seen by more of a RN, but if they are any type of RN, they would be able to lead you to what the problem is.

@David.

Weighed myself at 209 (!!) a couple weeks ago. Haven't been over 200 since I lost a ton of weight my sophomore year in college.

Since then, I've been on a pretty mean cut - coming in under 1500 calories (and sometimes even less) every day. Been eating a ton of grilled chicken breast out of the deli for dinner. Predictably, I'm getting a little sick of it but love the nutritional value it brings.

What do you guys do with chicken breast to change up tastes and styles? I've been seasoning it/marinating it differently before grilling it, but what other options are out there?

Dry rubs. It will add flavor, but not as many calories as a sauce would. Well worth the "cheat", it will keep you on track for much longer.

Exactly what bigfoot said, when I want to put a sauce on the chicken, I cook in the crockpot. One of my go-to's is SBR BBQ, lime, lemon zest, hot sauce, wors. sauce, honey, seasonings, brown sugar. Or just the classic salsa, taco seasoning, hot sauce. Shred it up and can put it over brown rice/quinoa, in taco's, by itself.

But when I bake/grill, I basically always go dry rub. It's a great way to keep your mouth entertained and you can REALLY get a myriad of flavors in your mouth. Love pepper, cayenne, chili powder, garlic powder, McCormick spicy chipotle, dry mustard, red pepper flakes. Seems like a lot but holy shit the flavor is awesome.

I think this Sunday I am going to go with a "stir-fry" recipe. tons of broccoli, mushrooms, tri-color peppers, pineapple, quinoa, chickpeas, edamame, celery, sliced carrots, chicken. Cook the chicken in a low-sodium sauce in the crock pot, or if I want to get super healthy, a dry rub. If I go crockpot, about 30-45min before chicken is completely done, add all veggies in crock pot. Otherwise, pan fry them.

Excited.

1. Most garlic and herb marinades have very few calories, and not all of it will end up in the chicken.
2. Try grilling marinaded boneless skinless chicken thighs in quantity. They don't dry out like chicken breasts, so when you reheat them during the week, they will be really good too. There's also some fat on there, which isn't a bad thing. Flavor is better too...
3. This kinda goes with number 2 - why are you eating chicken breast out of the deli? I'll tell you fucking why: because it's convenient. You gotta go big on the weekend with the crock pot, grill, and/or oven. Make "too much food" and if you eat it all, make more the next week. You'll find your equilibrium at some point, you'll eat higher quality food, more cheaply, that tastes better.

This is a personal trainer from my gym. I do consider him a friend. He went through a long journey of 22 surgeries on his leg. Tomorrow, we are having a benefit for him at Around the Corner in Lakewood. Angelo's pizza is catering, and if you're a beer drinker, there are kegs that are included with the ticket purchase. $20. @AuxiliaryPie

I have been on a tear working out the last 12 out of 14 days. I've upped my cardio a ridiculous amount. Still not trying to step on the scale because I don't want to obsess over a number. I also broke out my Total Gym and have done their upper body and long and Lean workouts. The older I get, the more I have to put into the workouts.

Thanks for whoever started the Insanity conversation in here.

Last Monday I started and also got back on the Ketogenic diet. Down 10 lbs in one week. Again, I am just trying to get it done, not trying to kill myself. While I know I may miss out on some results...it will help me prolong the path I am on. Its better to get to where I want and never give up, than to get burnt out in a few weeks.

Getting ready to add in a lifting regimen in the morning as well as some supplements.

Anyone have any thoughts on a creatine, low carb protein, and potentially a diet pill as well worth trying?

I finished my 60 days of Insanity and it was great.

I am now switching to:

Monday - Chest/Tri
Tuesday - Back/Bi
Wednesday - Insanity (whatever DVD I feel like doing)
Thursday - Shoulders/abs/incline treadmill work
Friday - Insanity
Saturday - light full body workout/off
Sunday - off

Haven't done a split in a while, usually do full bodies, so gonna do this for the next 2 months. Also, notice no leg day, but honestly my legs have gotten more defined from just the Insanity work. So going to keep that up.

Also, thinking about signing up for the Columbus Marathon again in October. If I do that, my training will begin late June.
