Even though everyone seems to want Sarunas...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
^ Great post , thx for letting us know . Cant wait till the season starts so we can win that ring already

Sarunas might never be NBA all defensive 1st team but there are more stories coming out that his D might not be as bad as it has been rumored to be. His effort will be there on D and he should be a PG who will make the proper rotations and fight through picks and screens. He might have trouble with some quicker PG's but you can deal with that.

I really want this guy too and hope the stories of an almost done deal turn out to be too. His skills fit a need and the reported contract is reasonable.

Gotta have him... This guy could be in a position to be our starting PG AND our main leader by the end of the '05-'06 season. With that much charisma, and love for the game... Hes exactly what a developing team needs. Gotta get him.

Yeah if needed we maybe need to offer him a little more to entice his decision maybe like 300k more per year to give him 1 more mill.

Let's keep in mind that we were excited about signing Redd to a $70 million deal knowing he didn't play defense all that well, so I think 'Yes the Cabbage is' is worth the the $10 million dollar deal despite his defensive shortcomings....

Bottom line, he will do more good than bad. The Spurs were trying to get him two years ago, and the Pacers right now seem to be the main competition. Those are two pretty good teams that scout well...

Anyone who watched the Olympics (vs USA 7-12 and 5-9 from three point range) knows the guy can play, and is one of the most competitive players out there...

Worried about $3mil, please Ira Newble makes $3 mil per year...

It seems like Coach Brown is going to be teaching a 'team defense' so 1 on 1 defense might not really matter that much.

As long as the guy tries, his D will be fine. J Mac's D was not a problem before his injury, and after that he just wasnt the same. Then it appeared he quit trying and just didn't give any kind of effort. Saraunas is going to come over with something to prove, he'll have the drive to put some effort in

What really makes me ill is that we owe ESnow 26M over the next 4 years. That will work out to approximately 1M for every wide open 15 footer he hits(I'm trying to be optimistic).

Saras will be a bargain at 3M.

Cheers

Reports are Indy's offering 5 mil a year. Worried? Hells yes I'm worried!!!

Saras must be used to playing in defensive systems like Mike Brown is planning on doing. There in Europe, defense is more focused towards the zone and working as a team. He'll fit in fine here, defensively.

I just hope we're looking for that backup big man and sign him quick. That way we know how much we'll have left and throw it all at Saras. Then sign a couple guys from training camp to the minimum and we'll have a great roster.

Any chances of us moving Eric Snow's huge contract to make room for maybe Sarunas and maybe Antonio Daniels? I know it sounds crazy but close to 7M for a guy who doesn't look like he's gonna be starting is too much money.

Edwin

Moving Eric Snow is pretty much impossible... No one will want to take on that contract, and we are stuck with him... most likely

I may be the exception but I want to keep Snow. I just like what he does for the team out there. He sets a pretty solid example and he wont have to worry about Silas anymore. I think Snow will have a solid season and hopefully Saras backs him up. Maybe 25-30 games in Saras really starts racking up the mins...

Snow. A good player, but a bad contract. Plain and simple. He gives us good defense and ball handling off the bench, and leadership in the locker room and in the community. But he gets paid like a star.
