Even though everyone seems to want Sarunas...

I may be the exception but I want to keep Snow. I just like what he does for the team out there. He sets a pretty solid example and he wont have to worry about Silas anymore. I think Snow will have a solid season and hopefully Saras backs him up. Maybe 25-30 games in Saras really starts racking up the mins...
You've always been the exception. I remember when you were the sole McInnis advocate for a while.

But Snow isn't going anywhere. I don't really think we need to move him. I love his defense, his heart, and his character. He's 32. If you think about it, he signed his extension when he was 29-30. Meaning it would have been right around where Antonio Daniels is right now. So I guess regardless, signing anyone to a 5 year deal is a bad idea 3 years down the line. But I'm sure it was well worth it at the time of signing.

god the eric snow love is driving me nuts...

all i can remember is hearing reghi go : "eric snow in rhythm" "CLANK"

if he didn't shoot the ball at all this season, maybe ? i can live with layups.

i can live with his defense, taking charges ect.... but please don't shoot the ball...

Yeah, If we could cut him I think I would the next 3 years he is making like 7 million per thats insane for a backup 30+ year old pg.

Snow just isn't strong mentally on the offensive side for some reason. He should be over this by now, he's a vet. Yes, I remember getting extremely pissed off at him, especially against the Magic when he missed 4 wide open shots in a row, and we lost that game. But then he'll turn around and hit 6/8 from the field when he starts.

Just got to get him more used to the rhythm. He probably didn't get many looks playing alongside AI. Now that we have LBJ, Hughes, Z as offensive options he won't have to score as much.

That was a great post, hopefully we can get a good player with the 5.5 we have left maye a marshall or a good banger.

Well, I saw a playoff game against Orlando back in the lock-out season, and Eric Snow was getting plenty of looks because of constant double teaming of Iverson, and Snow even hit a 3!

People we need role players. We dont need everyone to be stars. We will need every little bit of Eric Snow guile this coming season. We need his defense, his leadership, his composure. He is not a shooter, so get over it.

Exactly, it's seem we have a main core set for the next few years, so we need to build around those guys who play their roles. Reggie Evans is a guy who plays his role.

A 7M a year role player though? For that amount, I expect more than a role player.

I'm not saying we should sign Evans to $7 million a year. That's just insane. Evans is a $1-3 million per year player. He made less than a million this year with the Sonics.

Troy, I was referring to Eric Snow. I really like the Reggie Evans push but with him being an RFA, I really doubt if 1-3M will make it though.

My bad. I thought you were talkin bout Evans.

Snow will be making $5.48 million this season, he doesn't make $7 million until the last year of his deal in 2008/09.

2005/06- $5,480,000
2006/07- $6,090,000
2007/08- $6,700,000
2008/08- $7,310,000
Total - $25,580,000

That's what's left on his contract. Your right, we'd expect a bit more out of a guy making over $25 million over 4 seasons.

You're right, we do need role players, not stars. I don't care about his salary, it's worth it for those intangibles. I know he's not a shooter, but please. If you're left wide open, you should be hitting some shots. If the game is on the line and you have 3 chances to make a three pointer, you better sink at least one. This is the NBA. You just gotta make some shots. That's why Mike Brown wants people that can shoot so he can teach defense, rather than people that can defend who can't shoot.

Great points, my concern with Snow is that with the game on the line I don't think he can hit 1 out of 3 chances at a 15 footer....let alone a 3-ball. It is astounding to me that once Lucious Harris and Snow arrived, two solid veterans, they COMPLETELY forgot how to shoot. And I'm talking WIDE OPEN shots, they didn't have to work hard for good looks either. It had to be frustrating as hell for LJ and Z to kick it to those guys and know there was little chance of them nailing a shot. This was a big reason our two All Stars started to force so many shots. It made us a much easier team to defend and contributed to a lot of losses.

I think we're all agreed that Snow can't shoot--never has, never will. And I think we're all agreed that he's still a good defender--good but not great and slowing down defensively. However, my problem with Snow is his ball-handling and distributing ability. He screwed up as many fast breaks as McInnis last year, and he had the ball taken from off the dribble a lot. He's become a very conservative point guard. I don't think he's a legitimate starter for a contender anymore. Let's get SJ or AD signed.
