Mejia was ultra hyped even to mainstream fans cause of some BABIP-driven hitting streak. He lacked a good approach though and the nerds were right about him coming down to earth against MLB pitching. If his catching was better, a lot would be different but I can see why he never succeeded given his flaws in both offense and defense.

I can think of a few ...
1) No manager or player is going to take these pre-season softball questions and rag on a player -- that is why we appreciate your little hints when you can give them.

2) It may show how bad at evaluating hitters Cleveland was at the time .... but then again we had Zimmer and Bradley as our other top rated prospects so Mejia being the best hitter wasn't that much of a stretch.

3) Some guys like Yandy Diaz needed some time to flourish as he was a sub-2 fWAR until 2022. Thus, you got to ride out these struggles early on to see who really has it on the MLB level.
