Here's the thing, if we have to include a 1st rounder, dealing for Kevin Love becomes that much harder.

We can trade a future first, it doesn't have to be a 2015 first. It can also be the Cavs' own 2016 first. We can split protection on the picks. Trading one half of the pick to one team and the lottery half to another. There's so many options here because we have a lot of picks!!

It's just not as simple as saying "we lost a first rounder" if we are doing all of these trades in coordination with each other.

This is the kind of trade that contenders make.
The Bulls made a similar move a few years ago by giving away Kurt Heinrich.

Zeller is a serviceable, yet replaceable backup center.
I think Karasev will be a good player, but not for a couple of years.
I think his minutes would have been very limited this year with what the final roster could look like.

We are going to lose Delly too tho, no? Really sad about that. We have to get rid of all our pg depth. No way we can just re-sign him immediately is there?

This move of clearing Karasev and Zeller might help us keep Delladova.

Let's be real. Zeller is okay, but piled up his stats against 2nd string. Joe Harris will be better than Karasev. And a protected pick when WITHOUT LeBron we now have Irving, Waiters, Wiggins, TT, AB and all your firsts (including Miami and Memphis), except for 2016. You kept Delly who I personally value much higher than Karasev. I realize that AV and Haywood are not starting healthy centers, but jimminy cricket, neither is Zeller. You wanted to clear $10 million without trading any core assets, You just did it. Realistically, except in actual "fantasy" basketball, you could not have done much better.

The issue wasn't offloading Jack...we could have done that for much cheaper. The issue was dumping Jack without taking on additional salary in return.
