Farewell to Jarrett Jack

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Jarrett Jack

I don't think JJ like playing with Kyrie. It seems the Dion, Kyrie and Jack are all competing to see who can take the worst shot playing ISO ball.

Re: Jarrett Jack

Sucks because I really like Jarrett Jack the person but I don't think he'll be on this team going forward. There is just no room for him to be honest. Kyrie and Dion should hopefully be pushing 35 mpg next year and the rest of the minutes in the backcourt should honestly go to Delly. Delly is way cheaper and I think he's more conducive to winning than Jarrett.

I was optimistic at the time of the signing but now in hindsight I'm really confused as to how Chris Grant could've let this happen. I know Dan Gilbert really pressured him into signing Jack but still. Really terrible acquisition.

The thinking was, Jack would be a "veteran leader" that would help put out fires between Kyrie and Dion if they came up. Unfortunately he didn't help at all in that regard.

Also, nobody expected how much of an impact Dellavadova would have on the team.

I don't understand. If you were optimistic you had reasons to be optimistic. Whatever those reasons were are some of the same things Chris Grant thought. The man didn't have a crystal ball.

Re: Jarrett Jack

Right. It's the same as how many of us fans were optimisitc that Bynum had shed his health and attitude problems and would be a dominant big man again. It didn't happen.

So you say you don't know how Grant could have let this happen but then explain exactly how it did happen in the next sentence? :chuckles:

Re: Jarrett Jack

if delly played like an undrafted white guy then jack would have been a necessity. I still dont mind jack when hes hitting jumpers.. would have much rather had Livingston, but i think everyone here can agree with that

What's the market for him currently.......?

I can't imagine there's a strong market for a 31 year old ball-stopper with a couple years left on his deal.

A few teams may be interested, such as Sacramento. Last I read, they were waiting for the Thomas situation to be cleared up to make a decision. There was also some reports that Utah might be interested in taking the contract if the Cavs floated them a first rounder with protection. It would make some sense for Utah. They have bad depth behind Burke and Jack would provide them with a spark plug off the bench. They also have cap space and may be willing to eat the contract if the wheels are properly greased.

I think Orlando could be a definite possibility, especially if they do not make any significant signings with their cap space.

Re: Jarrett Jack

How about Kidd in Milwaukee.....? Doesn't he have a JJ mancrush?

Maybe something like Jack and Hopson for Ilyasova?

We could add a little cash instead of Hopson, but regardless, this trade does not clear cap space, nor does it really upgrade our roster.

My best guess is that:

1) Jack could get traded to team without cap space that need vet depth at PG in return for an expiring contract (Nets). That doesn't do the Cavs much good if they need more cap space right now but it could be useful if the Cavs are trying to swing a larger 3 team trade.

2) Jack could get traded to a team with cap space in return for something not valuable, like a top 55 protected second round pick if the Cavs include a top 5 protected 2015 first round pick. That's a little expensive, but some of those teams could use a vet influence in the back court and if the Cavs need cap space right now, they might have to "bite the bullet" and get it done.
