Finnan: CP3 wants out of NO

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I totally get where all the frustration is coming from here, and I don't like hearing a source say CP3 wants to be a part of a "super team" either, but I don't see anything wrong at all with him wanting out of NO. This is the best PG in the game who saw his team build into a real competitor one season, than drop to nothing not just because of some injuries and their coach being fired, but because the owner refuses to spend any money. Chris Paul is one of the best players in the game without question, and he's not in any scenario other free agents were in (even Toronto tried to build around Bosh and compete), the Hornets FO have one of the best franchise players to build around and they refuse to spend the money to do so. It's appalling, and I'm surprised it's taken him this long to start getting more public about it. I don't blame him one bit for wanting to get traded, New Orleans put themselves in this situation by not even trying to get competitive. Anyone in his shoes would do the same thing - you just had a bad injury, you aren't getting any younger, you're team will be lucky to make the playoffs, nor show any sign of improving... you demand a trade.
.

Look Chris Paul chose to sign that extension. He could have done a little homework, looked at the roster, George Shinn's reputation, etc.. and realized, "crap, we peaked and won't be getting better anytime soon." and then NOT taken the money. He took the money, and now he wants the money AND a chance to play on another team right now.

Doesn't work like that. The front office didn't do him any wrong by performing their job to what they must have considered the best of their ability. Just because they made bad choices, they didn't stop paying Paul.

"I demand a trade and here's a list of teams I want to play for." or what? You'll stop playing? You'll poison the locker-room? Shoot, stop playing and save the owner a few bucks for 2 more seasons.

What kind of world do we live in where it's fine to pull this kind of BS. Heck, maybe Paul should have negotiated a deal that stipulated agreeable front office moves. Shame on him and his agent.

No, I have zero sympathy and I hope New Orleans forces this guy to play out at least this year, or trades him only in a perfect deal for them.

Things like this is getting me more and more frustrated with Pro Sports. At one point in my life I was somewhat athletic and good at basketball. Just good enough to play jv ball at a DII school. Now I did that and then played at the YMCA. Neither one of these were payed positions. I did them becuase I liked playing basketball. These guys are acting the the NBA and the world owe them something because they are good at basketball. They should take an hour out of every day and thank what ever God they believe and that they are in the position that they are in. If I went in to my boss and did what these guys do I would be out of a job. They think that are entitled to whatever they damn well please. They are all losing any sense of reality that they may have had. This is not how life works.

The Hornets have worked to put a good team out there. They are like the Cavs in that they are in a Smaller less desirable market and therefore have to overspend to get free agents. They brought in Posey after he was huge in the Celtics Finals win. People on this board wanted the Cavs to get him. He was desired. The only way that the Hornets could get him was to overpay and they did. Now they are stuck with a shit contract. They have made some bad trades as have the Cavs but the have shown that they are trying to win. Chris Paul boo freaking hoo that you aren't getting your way right now. You want that team to win get your ass in the gym and work on your game. Otherwise shut up.

Why is anyone acting like this is new? This happens every year, many players have done this before Paul and many will do it after him. You can disagree with it all you want but you see this in every sport. Stephen Jackson and Monta Ellis both were demanding trades at this point last year - one of them stayed put while the other gave out a list and didn't end up on any of the teams he hoped. Not to mention this is just a source saying this right now, so despite Paul saying earlier in the year that he'd be open to a trade - this hasn't reached anywhere near the caliber of things have gone before. Hell, even Kobe was more vocal than Paul was now. Go ahead and be turned off by this, and I know with the whole "super team" shit we've seen this year it brings another, maybe different perspective to it than before - but it doesn't change the fact that players will continue to demand trades if they aren't happy.

This same thing happens when you run a franchise in NBA Live or 2K for many years now, shit happens. Not saying you have to like it, but there isn't anything that's going to put a stop to it.

Paul thinks he is big and bad now, he just isn't a player, but one of the elite, so he should get his way.

Bot the Owners and players(not elite) are both gonna have to allign if they want to stop the elite. They run the team and own the players.
