Finnan: CP3 wants out of NO

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is more than the driving force behind Scott, trust me. Like I've been alluding to for a couple years, Paul is as key piece to everything ...having both Scott and Lebron together potentially, would be a huge driving force for Paul to demand a trade with CLE being his top destination priority ... But, NO has to be ready and willing. I'm positive that this is part of the thinking going on inside the Cavaliers minds.

I came into this thread thinking "yada yada yade pipe dream bs bs bs"

Now I'm leaving thinking "Holy shit".

But realistically, the Cavaliers cannot give anything close to actual value for CP3. We don't have anything we could give them that would make them think "We cannot pass on that deal."

I'm in New Orleans and my roommate is close family friends with Byron Scott so we had tickets behind the bench forever. When he got fired we still sat there cause he still had the tickets but now no family was going cause they were all back in LA.

Anyway, we heard a lot of rumors that the reason he was fired cause him and CP3 didn't get along...

Thats not cemented inside info or anything, but thats just what we heard, both before he got fired and after. We'll see though

What it ACTUALLY comes down to is not Byron Scott, but whether the Cavs will take Emeka Okafor and maybe also Posey's contract.

"As a coach, Scott led some lesser-talented Nets teams to the finals and had a solid relationship with star Jason Kidd that unraveled toward the end of the point guard's time in New Jersey. In New Orleans, Scott took the Hornets on a surprising run to the Western Conference finals and was close with guard Chris Paul, who is James' best friend in the league."

I don't know how much I trust Finnan's source, but there's one thing for sure.. no way would CP3 come here if Shaw was our coach, maybe this was part of the plan when hiring Scott. Just dreaming though.

And that is where the problem lies.

We just don't have enough for him IF they decide to finally move him. He can want Cleveland all he wants, but NO holds all the cards.

It would almost take CP3 demanding a trade to Cleveland, I would think. I just don't get the feeling that the front office is eager to grant him a trade, and especially not for what we could give them. The one thing we do have working for us is that they would probably want to trade him out of the West. But that's not much.

I'm usually pretty optimistic about these kinds of things (see my feelings on our chances to get Bosh), but for some reason I just don't see how things could come together to land CP3 here without Bron and Paul basically forcing their way onto the same team.

Your PROBABLY right... but we don't quite know what they are looking to get from a CP3 trade.

There has to be some interest from the Hornets FO in some of our players, especially since we've been in trade rumors with them for the last 2-3 years. It depends what they want....

Your probably right... and maybe we could get a third team involved with some picks and fillers, but it would be a super tough deal to pull off imo.

While this is completely true, don't ignore the possibility of getting creative right here. I know we don't have Danny Ferry willing and dealing, but I'm sure Chris Grant has learned from Ferry a lot more than we know since he had a helping hand in making some deals happen. A three-way deal wouldn't be out of the question that adds more talent going to New Orleans, and maybe clearing some more cap space as well.

Obviously it's a long shot, but it's more possible than some may think.

But why would a third team send actual assets so we can get CP3? It doesn't make sense.

Like pr said, it'd be really tough to pull off with a third team...probably the toughest/most complicated deal in franchise history.

Saying Bosh is a realistic option is one thing. Or Amare. Or someone like that. But a superstar that is actually locked up for two more years? I just don't see it.

I am having 2 complete opposite thoughts. It would be GREAT if he demanded a trade to Cleveland, but what do we have that they would want? Hickson? AV? Any chance we could work out a 3 way deal involving Shaq to Dallas? The Dallas thing strikes me as something we could possibly use in trying to get Bosh as well.

Then on the complete opposite side of the spectrum. A team like NJ can offer Harris, Favors and picks. Would something like that entice LeBron to go to NJ? CP3, LBJ, Lopez... that's a scary "Big 3."

I don't see NO trading CP3 for a package whose centerpiece is a point guard.
