Former Cavalier Luke Walton joins Cleveland coaching staff.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's interesting. Walton was a disaster with the Kings but I guess that's expected in Sacramento.

He’s had his share of problems, on and off the court during his coaching career, but he really is a sharp and knowledgeable coach.

I think he’ll do wonders with some of our offensive sets and game preparation.

In addition to the offensive sets mentioned above, I’ll be interested to see what this does to Evan Mobley’s growth as a shooter.

If I recall correctly, Brook Lopez suddenly became a decent 3-pt shooter during his time in Los Angeles under Walton’s coaching. Marvin Bagley’s shooting also improved each season he was under Walton until he got traded to Detroit. Those could simply be coincidences and Walton might’ve had nothing to do with it, but it doesn’t seem like his presence will hurt Mobley.

It's hard to judge him as a head coach since he had 2 bad situations, some guys aren't cut out to be a head coach but are good assistants, some guys need to recalibrate after their failed first run (Jason Kidd), that said...

His offenses in LA and Sac were some of the most basic, static, and unimaginative out there. Not sure how much of that is on him, but I think this article does a good job of explaining what went wrong:

It's weird because on the floor, the offense always ran better with him.

Good hire! Any word on who Luke is replacing?

I don’t believe anyone is being replaced, just an addition as an offensive assistant with prior HC experience. Something that’s been in the works for some time now.

Per Serena Winters, Walton spent a lot of time in the facility a few months ago and he has a very good relationship with JBB.

This is where I'm at, too. Other than GS, I can't think of any positives he's had since he stopped playing...I'm more worried about this hire than I was with Lowe being added last year.
