Four Team Deal Sends Howard to Lakers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As a Lakers fan, I'm glad this is over more than anything. It's nice to know where the team is going to be next season and that no more major shakeups are going to occur. I think if we sign a few solid bench guys like Barbosa, we'll have a good chance at winning it this year.

As a Lakers fan, is hard rooting for a team that has player after player gift-wraped for your franchise? I imagine it must be.

I'm not going to complain about my team getting good players. I don't really care how it happens. Imagine a world in which the Cavs are consistently able to make moves like this. Would you complain about it? Some of these deals don't make any sense to me either, but our GM gets things done, somehow. I can't pretend to understand the thinking of general managers that make deals with us.

while I agree, You should send this to the Orlando Magic Front office and just change the "Lakers fan" to " The Magic Organization" and "Is It hard rooting for a team" to "Is It hard helping a team"

Final Nets offer Orlando rejected in July: Lopez, Humphries (1 year, $9.6M), Brooks, 4 unprotected No. 1's for Howard, JRich, Duhon, Clark -Woj

The owner should absolutely step in, stop this trade, and fire Hennigan on the fucking spot. As bad as that Nets trade looks, it's worlds better than this piece of crap.

I can't find a good reason why that deal did not push through.

But it's been going on for decades beyond just the Magic. It's like ever since the late 60s organizations around the league have been afflicted with this disease that causes them to continuously give away franchise players for turds to the Lakers.

And honestly, this one takes the cake, because this is the worst offer on the table for Orlando. Even if all Houston offerred was the bare minimum, this is worse.

The only thing I can think of is that they just didn't want to give Lopez a max deal. I think this deal saves them a bunch of money, they're still getting rid of Clark and Duhon, and getting 3-4 firsts, plus reportedly some 2nd round picks as well. I guess they were more comfortable with Afflalo's 7-8 mil per than Lopez getting 14mil a year.

If I were the Magic's GM though, I would've taken the Rockets deal as soon as they offered it.

I can give you two:

1. Marshon Brooks is incredibly overrated (he doesn't do anything as well as Afflalo, and is only three years younger).

2. Brook Lopez is coming off a season in which he broke the same foot TWICE. Lower leg injuries, historically, have been a death knell for big men (Z being one of the rare exceptions). Considering Lopez had to get the max to make the money work, it would have been an extreme risk to take him on at max money. Downright stupid, actually.

Re: Sources: Four Team Deal to Send Howard to Lakers "Very" Close

Except for the fact the Lakers are the clear favorites to win the title for a minimum of 2 seasons going forward

76ers get the 2nd best center in the game, maybe even the best here soon for an overpaid Iggy which also opens up the game more for Turner... 76ers clear winners of THIS trade.

I think Denver did really well, too. They supposedly freed up 43mil in future salary, and got a stud defender and phenomenal athlete in Andre Iguodala who will probably be extremely solid in Karl's offense.

So they would rather have an overpaid Afflalo, while not getting rid of any of their bad contracts? Plus the picks they got are gonna be low 20's. A trade with Houston or Cavs would at least got them mid to high teens pick wise, while shedding most of their bad contracts. With the Nets, they would also get a young center, that they could start their rebuild with (not a superstar, but an above average center). Or one or two of the rookies Houston drafted? This was the worst of the rumored deals, can't believe this is the deal they waited for.

funny how the nuggets clear more space then them while turning afflalo and harringtons corpes onto Iggy

This is what pisses me off. When one Laker superstar's career is ending, they are gift wrapped a stud.

D12's back is really a problem. If that explosiveness is gone he will be useless.
