Four Team Deal Sends Howard to Lakers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
John Hollinger said on Twitter that he was hearing that Alex Martins, the Magic team president, ran this deal for Orlando. It should be noted that his experience in sports has come on the business side, not the personnel side. That would explain why this deals sucks so horribly for the Magic.

GG league, GG. Going to be spending my time watching hockey instead of basketball this season.

Sometimes I wonder what it is like being a Laker fan, where you hardly ever experience what going through a rebuild feels like.

This is unreal. If the rumors about the Cavs and Houston offers were even remotely true, Hennigan passed on two far superior offers for this mess. Hell, trading Howard straight up for that Toronto pick that Houson owns than this garbage.

Go easy on Hennigan. Hearing Orl Pres Alex Martins likely ran this one. I don't think this trade really locks the Lakers down as favorites, but one thing is for sure: Antawn Jamison just got significantly closer to winning an NBA title.

Not sure if that's infuriating, something to feel happy about, or just black humor.

Not sure I feel like listening to this..Lakers just seem to get the better players and U say you're glad it's over like you've been put through a ringer...totally stupid Orlando Tragic..keep funneling the best centers to LA...absolutely stupid. They had better offers and hit the panic button..

Im glad it's over because it's been frustrating to not know what my favorite team was going to look like for months and dealing with constant rumors. In the end, Im not sure how much better Dwight will be than Bynum and I'm not sure how this team will gel on the court yet.

This right here. I just can't understand this for the Magic. We've waited months for this stupid trade and this is what they come up with? Aaron Afflalo, Al Harrington, and some late first rounders? How is this for real?

If I was a Magic fan I'd be on the equivalent of their 480 bridge right now.

No really high bridges, but we do have the 408 that heads almost straight down to the Amway center.

I thought we found out that we never had any trades set up with Orlando and all that news was just made up.

Ever heard the term "smokescreen" or "cover up"?

Unless you're being sarcastic...:chuckles:

Don't care one way or another about AJ getting closer to a title but i agree that this doesnt lock the lakers down as THE favorite. OKC is still going to present a number of challenges as they have the size to battle in the paint and the better and youner perimeter players. The Spurs will likely be right there when it matters.

Why does hennigan still have a job at this point?

I love that Howard throws Van Gundy and the FO under the bus. They are gone. Then he proceeds to bootstrap ORL so they take garbage because he is gone, driving the bus to LAL.

I know this trade is all about Dwight and the Magic, but holy crap the other 3 teams got a FANTASTIC deal out of this.

Let's not get our panties in the bunch for LA. They did give up an All-Star Center, arguably the 2nd best center in the league, who is 24 years old. They did get the best center in the league but he's close to 30 and is coming off back surgery. Not necessarily the slam dunk it seems to be. I can easily see Howard having injury issues and Bynum hitting his prime and dominating. Could also continue that Howard is the best center in the league for the next 3-4 years too.

The real problem is Orlando did an awful job at getting value for Howard. The other reported deals that Orlando supposidly turned down look 10x better than this hot garbage.

26 is close to 30?
