Yes, I know what she was talking about. What you're talking about were two Iraqi's arrested for IED explosions IN Iraq. They just happened to be arrested in Bowling Green, KY. There was no bombing Bowling Green, neither was charged with planning such an event, and there was never ANY evidence that they were planning to plan it.

Calling an event that didn't happen, with no evidence that it was going to happen, is called LYING.

And haven't we reached the point where it's impossible to defend bullshit barbie?

Really don't understand why she'd call it a Bowling Green "Massacre", debacle, event, occurrence, even terrorists would have been ok.

With that said, it's an example of our vetting process letting in some unsavory characters.

Yes, and as a result, the Obama administration temporarily halted the processing of Iraqi refugees, that way they could add new background checks. That's how things normally work. Flaw is discovered, flaw is dealt with.

This only happened 5.5 years ago. How do people not remember this? But more to the point, why not just look it up? All the reports are right there.

What are you concerned folks don't remember? I remembered reading about two dudes w/ terrorist ties arrested in KY. I didn't remember Bowling Green, nor a massacre, so I had to go look it up again. You seem agitated w/ my response when I agreed her wording was dubious.

I also don't disagree w/ the actions Obama took on it in 2011. If you feel something isn't working right, stop the bleeding, fix the problem, restore the service. He did exactly right, kudos to him! Clearly, this administration thinks there are still gaps that put us at risk and they want to clear that up. Procedurally speaking, what was valid logic in 2011, is valid logic in 2017. The primary disagreement there is whether you believe a problem exists or not (not something for this thread).

I'd rather have had someone explain it like that to the world. I feel like the entire government needs a good PR firm.

Schools used to teach how to read objectively and think for oneself and to allow the ability to differentiate facts from opinions.

per the prior Trump tweet posted.

Trump is calling opinions fake news.

Fake news is making up facts that aren't true not editorializing.

Everything is editorial. Not one news source is without an agenda. Not one.

Do you really think every instance of a bad guy getting in is reported in the news? If TSA/FBI catch someone, do you really believe they want to announce it?

99% of the people coming here are desperate to get the hell out of the firing range they called home. They will say and do anything to escape. Who can blame them for that..

Uh.....

Well shit, that clears up everything.

Nothing to see here.

Basically everything is fake news. Discredit the media at all costs. What happened to when journalistic integrity was a thing. Every news source has a bias I don't think there is as much fake news as the right is claiming. It is a way to make sure there is nothing believable. It is a form of misdirection and manipulation.

If it comes to the point where everything is fake news (exactly what the right is claiming) then we are devolving our society. Basically it will come to a point where elections are won and then, poof, fake news so no one believes it. The main problem with this line of thinking is that you no longer have a free media, this will enable false propaganda (from both sides")

Also where is the proof to the fake news claims?

The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them -- Thomas Jefferson

This isn't a new phenomena, each president experiences their share of "fake news" the problem is this president is going out of his way to try to discredit the media, and that is dangerous.

Here is what Trump tweeted during the failed operation in Yemen which resulted in the death of an American soldier.

Trump was in the residence, instead of the situation room.

MAGA.

Trump didn't start the fire.
He didn't start the discrediting.
The large news organizations chose a side in a presidential election, which they shouldn't have done. They leaked questions to debaters. They selectively reported. They did much more that I won't list.
They began the fiasco by discrediting themselves and then acted indignant when they got called on it. They were just shocked that a candidate was willing to call them out.

If the media had acted with integrity they wouldn't have a credibility problem.
If Volkswagon had acted with integrity they wouldn't have a credibility problem.
If the NE Patriots...
If the Catholic Church...
If Dan Rather...
If Nixon...

CNN and the NYT's brings shame upon themselves in the same way, if not to the same degree, as the National Enquirer.

If they chose a side, why did they cover Hillary's email scandal so intensely? It wasn't just Fox News, every development was huge. As was the health concern on 9/11. These were election shifting stories that the media covered to the full extent. The media played a huge role in getting Donald elected by giving him so much air time as well. Sensationalism and media distrust are not new, but they've reached new heights to the point where easily provable facts are up for debate.

Most journalists are liberal. The slant is toward the liberal end anyway. In this election it wasn't a conservative versus a liberal it was the epitome of politics versus a fucking ball of narcissistic hatred. It should come as no surprise that Trump got a lot of negative press as a result. If the media was being objective, the truth is Trump is not qualified for the fucking job.

And the administration that loves calling anything critical "fake news" has continued spreading complete lies and fabrications, such as 3-5 million non-existent illegal votes and now this Bowling Green Massacre that never happened.
