Gerald Wallace Hoopshype Rumor (pg 4.) - no truth per Windy tweet

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Gerald Wallace Hoopshype Rumor (pg 4.)

Smooth..,

You make great points but we can put this to rest now. Bob Finnan makes up shit for fun.

Just go sign French Frye and call it an offseason. I'll give Ferry an A-

Even if/when we do sign Frye, I highly doubt Ferry will be done with this offseason. It's far from a sure thing, but we may very well see another trade this offseason. Windhorst was saying he expected to 2 trades this offseason, and we didn't have the Mo trade until August last year.

But I agree with others, this thread should be closed. There's nothing to this G-Force rumor.

Re: Gerald Wallace Hoopshype Rumor (pg 4.)

The dude can barely hold onto the ball in the post and got his shot blocked at a ridiculous rate. Also, he's not as athletic as you make it seem, he's not Tyrus/Josh Smith/Amare level athletic, hell someone like Josh Powell is the same height with a nearly 40 inch vertical, you don't hear Laker fans going on and on about how athletic he is. I don't care about all of these little stipulations you added, but Hakim Warrick, Yi Jianlin, Josh Powell, Ryan Humphries etc are all supremely athletic and raw, the common theme is that raw, athletic PFs rarely pan out.

I seriously can't believe your gonna judge Hickson based off of the one year he played in the NBA, when we knew he wasn't going to contribute much and was going to take a while to develop...

What post game? This isn't Al Jefferson we're talking about, what flashes other than some quick up and unders, and crude footwork has he shown in the post? We're not talking about a young Kevin McHale here, his post game isn't that advanced as you make it seem. Also, tell me how is he going to improve on one of his major weaknesses, which is bad hands? He can't catch in traffic, how do you improve that?

The things he does do well, though, Hickson is extremely talented at—as evidenced by the terrific 59% he shoots from the field. He’s a very reliable presence cutting to the rim or running the floor in transition, thanks to his superb length, hands, strength, toughness, aggressiveness, and the way he finishes around the rim. He likes to dunk everything he gets his hands on, being extremely quick getting off his feet, and having no problem going right through contact—drawing a good amount of fouls in the process.

Hickson has a great feel for scoring in the post, showing a nice combination of quickness, footwork, strength, and a few very solid moves. His drop-step is already an excellent weapon for him, and his turn-around jump-shot is quickly becoming an effective part of his arsenal. He establishes good, deep position inside, knows how to utilize shot-fakes, and has some nice spin-moves he executes with great quickness.

Speights was 3 picks ahead, and McGee was one pick ahead, McGee is 8 months older than JJ and has a much much higher ceiling. How is McGee anymore NBA ready than JJ, he's just as raw but more athletic.

I know McGee isn't, which is why I didn't mention him in the NBA ready group..

I know Hickson isn't supposed to be a proven player, but when the opportunity comes up to get a more talented player for him it should be done, especially now since he cannot work on his game for the majority of the summer. Also, Wallace can contribute, whether he's a bad fit or not, I'd rather have him playing 25 minutes a game than JJ playing 5-10 at this point.

I'd also rather Hickson for the long-haul over someone who'd be a bad fit on this team and only play 25 minutes a game..

I'm just glad there's nothing to this rumor so we don't have to talk about this forever.. :chuckles:

Pre-Shaq trade, trading for Gerald Wallace would have made some sense but after the Shaq trade and already having an offensive player like LeBron James, spacing is a key, key element and Wallace can't provide that..

The Cavs already have two players with inconsistent jumpers (Andy and LeBron) and that is enough with Shaq on the team...Adding another player with an inconsistent, non-existent jumper doesn't make much sense at all..

On top of that, I have serious concerns about Wallace's injury history (one bad concussion away from retirement) and that combined with his contract should be enough to warrant some caution... I don't want to be taking on that type of contract when it's that long...

Wallace could give us the swing forward that we've been looking for but his ability to play the PF position is hampered by his inability to stay healthy there... Most of his problems staying healthy have been because he's played a lot of PF, which is just too much for Wallace physically..

Wallace is a talented player who could help but I really don't see where he would fit into this team... Defense? Yes he'd fit here... But offense? No, not at all.

Wallace offers some nice things to the Cavs but his negatives really do outweigh his positives for this current team..

Let's also not forget that Wallace doesn't exactly go along with Danny's plan for 2010 cap space (even though it doesn't seem possible)...

Ball gos in to Shaq
Gerald's man comes off him to double
Ball gos back out to Gerald
Gerald's man refocuses Gerald has a 5 feet cushion to get his speed going
Gerald lays it up, dunks and or is fouled (80 percent free throw shooter)

Or Shaq's man comes off of Shaq
quick interior pass to Shaq
Shaq dunks

Whats the problem? We have had bad shooting teams before; this would simply be the best bad shooting team that we have ever had ..

Put that idea to bed

Re: Gerald Wallace Hoopshype Rumor (pg 4.)

If I see BOB, I will fight him.

Re: Gerald Wallace Hoopshype Rumor (pg 4.) - no interest per Windy tweet

I'm not supporting this deal, just because of the cap space for 2010.

Wallace is a great defender and all but his contract is big.

In 2010 I would like to sign Bosh/LeBron, but there's a chance of that not happening, even if we still have our cap.

Decisions, Decisions.

Artest, Ariza, now Wallace? Just be happy with the small forward we have. the kid will do alright. good to see Ferry still has faith in him. he showed a little promise last season starting for us, so i see no reason to get another small forward.

last call!!!!! you don't have to go home but you can't stay here
