I am really sad to hear that Sony is killing their Playstation Vue streaming service. I've admittedly never tried YouTubeTV, but in comparison to the DirectTV Now/Hulu Plus/Sling TV services, PS Vue was WAY better (especially liked the user interface with the Amazon Fire TV devices). I've had it for going on 3 years now. I think Sony's marketing department really shit the bed on this one... Why put the name "Playstation" in it rather than just calling it "Sony Vue" or something to that effect?! Literally every person that I recommended it to would ask "does that mean I have to have a Playstation to watch it?" DERP.
Oh well... looks like YouTubeTV will be my next choice based on feedback here and elsewhere. Really going to miss the smooth interface of PSVue.
I think some of the problems with PS Vue was also Sony lacking owning any of their own channels and not having the advertising analytics that YouTube/Google and Hulu have.
I think the streaming wars will kill cable all together at some point. Disney and At&t just have to decide to include their Live sports channels to their Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ and HBO Max, then cable and streaming cable TV service will go under.
A Disney/ESPN exec didn't shot down the idea of adding ESPN to their streaming service recently. If they lose Monday night football or they move it to ABC, I could see them moving ESPN over to streaming.
I posted the MLB will end blackouts for in market streaming. If the NBA follows suit than the regional sports networks days are numbered. The constant disputes between cable companies and regional sports networks has to get annoying for the NBA, MLB, and NHL. If they can find a more effective way of getting to their fans, they will do it.
