Getting Rid of Cable- What am I missing?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
From experience and other knowledge, Spectrum will not give promotional rates to anyone except new customers. Must be 31 days between cancellation and new service before you are considered a new customer and able to get deals. Unfortunately my internet is ridiculously overpriced and I have no viable alternatives.

Comcast is the area provider where I am and there are some alternatives so you can keep promotional rates forever if you're diligent. Even as an existing customer.

Ive also not have any cable or cable like streaming services in 2 months. I was going to add back YouTube tv when the NBA came back but I might just go to Sling Orange.
Thats my plan. OTA and sling orange

Same boat. Moving to Cbus next June tho. Hoping to get cheaper Internet then

We're cord-cutting, so is there a way to have an HDTV antenna, and make it go wireless so different TV's in the house could access the signal? Would I need a separate tuner, etc.?

Yep.

I have an antenna connected to my HDHomeRun. Plex serves up live TV to any screen in my house (or any screen connected remotely)

And Youtube TV has lost the regional fox channels. Extension was over and of course Sinclair wanted even more money than the last round of negotiations, back to shitty illegal streams again.

This is obviously a rhetorical question (not directed to you X, but just in general), but shouldn't the price of Youtube TV now go down if they are no longer providing these RSN's?

Doubtful because they did a deal to get the base Viacom channels knowing they weren't going to be able to keep the regionals. I mentioned it to my wife when they announced adding MTV, Comedy Central etc to YoutubeTV. Said they did a deal with viacom because they know they aren't keeping the regionals. At this point, Viacom is damn near killing their own Philo platform by making deals with every other streaming service.

That's a very good point. I also wonder if YTTV is thinking that since there aren't going to be any live sports on these RSN's for at least the next several months, that it doesn't make sense to renegotiate anything now. I wonder if there is a chance they will get those channels back once the pro sports leagues start their seasons next year? If that happens, it sure would be nice if they didn't raise the price...

I actually assumed that Sinclair was wanting more money for the regionals because sports are one of the few things actually happening at this point.

You can buy a amazon fire recast, I think they are on sale right now. You also have a easy user interface and DVR.

Almost all TVs have a tuner already installed. The easiest way to not have a bunch of antennas and to get the best signal is to use the existing cable lines and get one outdoor antenna. You might need some cheap signal boosters at the tv depending how far you live from the towers. This will get you the most channels and the most stable reception.

I think the industry as a whole wants the RSNs to die. Sinclair is just making it easier to allow that to happen. I think the cable/steaming companies would rather just negotiate with the major networks. The leagues would rather just figure out a NFL type model to selling their product to networks. All the RSN contracts with teams vary in years so it's almost impossible for them to get on the same page.

I could see the leagues just wanting to let the RSNs go into bankruptcy and they buy their contracts back on pennies on the dollar. They will then restructure their models and negotiate new contracts with all the national tv stations to carry their games. Resulting in more revenues and a larger reach.

A step closer to being able to buy NBA league pass or a team pass directly in market. I could also see the NBA and MLB teaming up to buy back the RNS or the more importantly their contracts so they can go direct to consumers for games and cut out the middle man. Maybe they redistribute games to a wide variety of networks or go to a NFL model.
