Happy Trails George Hill

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
First: I agree the Spurs probably would not make that move as advertised - they have a proven history of effectively selecting and developing young talent, so Walker is probably very highly valued there.

That said, I think the salary dump of Gasol is part of the rationale for including Walker in a deal for Hill...along with the obvious PG injuries in SA (Dejounte Murray is done for the year it appears). The deal would open up a bunch of space for SAS this summer.

The key, and I haven't followed the Spurs enough to know, is how valuable of a piece Gasol still is to them at the age of 38.

I think trading him for a passable pg who is a great defender would work. The expiring seals it.

I will forever wonder about where the George Hill that was meant to be able to hit 3-pointers went.

He is still shooting 43% this season but just like everyone on this team, 3s just doesn't seem like a priority.

If we were to target Delly as the "bad contract" to take back for one of the vets we move, I actually think he would work out in the team structure better than Hill. Delly is a backup PG so we could insert Sexton as the starter. Defensively, Delly's style of defense matches up with Sexton. Both are pesky defenders, Delly could help him get his positioning better.

Delly would be the ideal PG to put next to Clarkson. He could do exactly what he did for Dion, make sure he got his touches in the right place for better shot selection while making sure everyone else was still involved. It should curb Clarkson ball hogging.

For some reason as I read this my mind jumped to visualizing Delly rugby-slamming Clarkson's ass to the floor for hogging the ball.

Some of us has been leading the #brigndellyback campaign for a while now. Not only do I feel that he's a great culture piece, but I think he can be awesome in a mentor role while still providing value on the court.

I can't imagine that any team is willing to throw big money at him after his stint in Milwaukee, so he should be able to re-sign him for fairly cheap if we do trade for him. If not, he's definitely somebody we should look at in FA.

Would love to have Delly back, need some positive energy back in this team.

We shouldn't look at Delly in FA. I would trade for him if it means we get the Bucks 1st round pick.

Though, I would rather we found players with really shitty contracts on really shitty teams so we would have a better chance at a mid 1st to late lottery somehow.

Bring back Delly and Blatt, please. Delly really blossomed under Blatt, well most of our players did. When Lue took over most guys regressed, IMO.

Get Delly as coach and Blatt as player

Delly is a hound, love him if he came with a pick attached. Would be a nice back up to Sexton.

I think if Korver for Delly and the Buck's 1st round pick is realistic compensation. I think the real bad contracts is what we use Hill and JRs contracts on to get higher draft picks.

His game is pretty much the exact opposite of Sexton's, so he'd be the perfect guy to set the example of what Sexton should be doing more of out on the court. Staying in control, court vision, defensive fundamentals, and involving teammates.

I also think Delly's attitude would be a welcome addition to the team and for Sexton. He would be rooting for Sexton from the bench and be the first guy to tell him to keep his head up or to shake it off when he makes a mistake.

I could imagine Delly just walking into the room with pizza and wings when Sexton is watching film and instantly just helping Sexton without him knowing it.
