Have you considered expanding these classy forums into other Cleveland sports? I'm aware there is the Indians and Browns section, but I'm thinking a site more specialized toward the specific team.

I don't think the Tribe has any fans, atleast not true fans.

Huh? I take it you're not from Cleveland. Before Lebron came to town the Cavs were by far the 3rd sports attraction. It's dark times right now but baseball will always be big in cleveland. That doesn't mean in a bad economy we should go spend money on tickets to watch a team that our cheap owners just dismantled.

I still watch the games every day and there are some very knowledgeable tribe fans on this site. I think a more specialized site would be great...with sub sections for each minor league affiliate. Especially now since the farm has been loaded up with a bunch of newcomers, it'd be nice to have a forum discussing their daily progress. The good thing about rooting for a losing team is you don't have all the frontrunners and casual fans on these forums like the Cavs have attracted.

Anyways, good idea...ya got my vote.

I know this doesn't belong in this topic, but can a mod help me out? First of all, I am not aloud to create new topics for some reason (which is why I'm posting this here). And also, my mailbox only allows me to store 10 messages now, rather than I think it was 50 or so a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks.

Disagree completely..

Your argument makes no sense in a city where the Cleveland Browns continue to sell out every home game, despite their futility since their return..

The Cavs have to be good for fans to come out, same with the Tribe.. the Browns will continue to sell out every home game even if they go 0-16 the next 16 years..

I was being somewhat sarcastic since everyone on this forum has been complaining the last few days...

Well your argument makes no sense to me either. The Browns shouldn't even be compared to the Cavs and Indians as far as ticket sales goes. They play 8 home games and it's more of a social event then it is a sports attraction. Big difference between selling out 8 games then 41 and 81 home games. Just about everyone I know who's an Indians fan goes to at least a few games a year, not many people can afford season tickets like they can the Browns.

I'd say not worth the trouble. Cleveland is one area anyway. Although, fans can be all over. It's just not worth it to pick up two other domains and also buy more hosting space with those sites if it's simply Cleveland sports. Besides, any marketing would have to be split up. Mods would be spread out with two or three other totally different domains. Software would have to be installed for each domain with their own separate databases and backends. The list goes on and on and on. :) This place has sections for all the teams, and I do think that is quite sufficient.

It seems appropriate, considering this blue collar town always follows the Browns first, Indians second, and Cavs are always last. The only reason there are so many Cavs fans right now is because 1) We have a superstar and 2) We're winning a lot.

But the people who found this site were probably always Cavs fans first, for several reasons, and it just happened to be big when it was relevant (2005 to now has been the Cavs Glory Years).

But if there were people who were bigger on Indians and/or Brown, they'd probably try to start a following. But this site manages to support the other two teams, considering they are from the same city. So at this point, it doesn't make too much sense, when this site already attracts the other fans with their multiple boards.

Me? I've always been a Cavs fan first and usually follow another team when they're winning. I'm a backwards Cleveland fan...

So it makes little to no difference to me if someone were to make it. This site offers things for every Cleveland fan, so I'm not complaining.

I guess I'm not fully in the loop as to how much work goes into keeping this site running. But the members are certainly Cavs-centric, as you stated. I'm on the Indians part a lot, but there are really only 5 or 6 people that consistently post in there. I'm sure there are many more devout Indians followers that could be brought in to a site similar to this. I'm certain that there are tons of Browns fans. And seeing the success of this site, I feel like expanding the culture / respect that you could find on this board into one focused on the other two teams would be very successful.

Too bad most of those people into the Indians and Browns don't really come here to give many thoughts. Quite a few of you do, but I'm sure many of the others just aren't into this type of thing, being the blue collar town and works on mechanics rather than technology.

On the other hand, LeBron James is doing for the Cleveland fanbase that Jordan did for the Global fanbase. He's a person to look up to and has a model personality to follow. And in a sport has star-centric as basketball, his persona is amplified 100 times more than the Grady Sizemores, Brandon Edwards, and past stars from the last few decades. Of course there are many LeBron fans that come to this site, mixed in with the loyal Cavs fans spanning from 4 decades, and add in a bit of the loyal Cleveland fans. Hell, people all over the world have come to this site, guys that just happened to run into a Cavs fetish by accident (Wally World comes to mind).

Either way, RealTribeFans or RealBrownsFans won't ring too much in the present. Cleveland can follow something like that, but take away much of the fanbase that doesn't connect through message boards, and you're left with the truly dedicated ones. It's because they aren't very successful to attract a large following. Why do you think we've gotten so many members to begin with in the past several months (and last year)? A network spans when you have a successful team.

I think the fans of the other teams have to settle for the smaller part of this message board (and I'm sorry it came to this), since the RealCavsFans site is covering for the Clevelanders too.

I agree that this forum currently provides adequate sections for the browns and tribe. It'd just be cool to see forums of this caliber for each of my favorite sports teams. I realize it's a lot of work to run a forum like this and right now with the current state of these franchises it'd probably more trouble than it's worth.

Neither of these teams will ever be as intruiging on and off the field as the Cavs as long as Lebron is around. The Cavs fanbase is ever expanding while the Tribe at this point is probably losing some fans. For better or worse, Lebron is the main reason most new members join RCF.

Maybe if the Tribe drafts (though they'd never be able to sign) Bryce Harper then we'd have the baseball equivalent of Lebron in town that would generate enough buzz to start a RealTribeFan.com. :chuckles:

I've been looking for a Tribe based fansite to post on... I think it's a good idea. I love baseball and I love the Tribe, regardless of their record.

I'm not saying this isn't a football town... it definitely is.

However, a big reason the football games will always sell out is because we ARE a football town, AND there are only 8 chances / year to go. Supply & Demand.

Granted, the Cavs and Indians do need to be good to sellout, but it doesn't help that there are 41 & 81 opportunities respectively vs. only 8 to see the Browns. That makes a difference too.

I can tell from experience it's not as good of an idea as it sounds..

I run a site that's Cavs related, I write for the front page and keep the forums updated as much as I can(not gonna spam the link..), and this site also had two other front pages and forums for the Browns and Indians, even the Buckeyes.

It only led to more inactive members on each site outside of the Browns board, which is the biggest there. It is now formed together as one and each site each has their respected forum on the site.

In other words.. I think it would be best to keep things the way they are, and just edit things a little like adding more sub-forums for both the Tribe and Browns.

JMO though.
