Blah I'm not bumming about this trade. Even if Hickson does well in his contract year, I think he'll revert to be Drew Gooden lite for most of his career.

Even if TnT can't shoot a lick I'll enjoy having a PF who'll play tough D and when moving well of the ball can catch the ball and finish.

Kings are the perfect example of what happens when you have a bunch of young talent with nearly no veteran leadership.

Or why a team might deal away a 2nd round pick for two 2nd rounders in the future?

On a side note. Not sure why people are so down on this. Just becausethe cavs acquire a pick doesnt mean they will or have any attention on using it. Draft picks are trade makers. Things that sweeten the deal.

Its like trading Baseball cards. If you trading a don mattingly for a george brett you might have to throw in mike scott and a kevin bass to get the deal done.

That comment about Sasha was just mean..... and made me chuckle

They ranked the top 593 players for 2012 according to a combination of APBRmetrics... The results? Hickson ranked as the 348th player overall and 58th center...

Casspi came in as the 395th player overall and 51st small forward...
Completely OT but...

I personally love that we traded Mo Williams (221/36) for Baron Davis (87/18) and the #1 pick in the draft. :chuckles:

Basically, it seems the FO's philosophy in acquiring players for our team is a departure of taking on highly potential filled players with questionable brain for high quality humans who will work their asses off and buy in to a team-oriented ball. "Hard work trumps talent" That's probably the idea.
And I think that's a really bad idea that frankly won't succeed.

Not saying the Cavs should bring in a bunch of low character idiots or anything, but I think the talent level needs to come first to win. Plus, high character, hard working players can also have high potential. I don't think Casspi is a great example of that though. Neither is TT.

My point with this trade all along is that Casspri and Hickson have about the same value except we ended up getting a conditional 1st round pick. While I am not excited about how conditional the pick is, this was a very good trade for the cavs.

1. Similar value on the players

2. Trade a position of relative strength (key word relative) to extreme need

3. We picked up a conditional 1st round pick

4. Avoid over paying (8-12 million a year) for a low b-ball iq pf

5. New player's g/f is super hot

6. We now have a Jewish player (ok, that one is only for me)

Seems like the trade is a big win to me.

Tristan is a pretty athletic guy, and has some tools that can work at the NBA level. That's what you need to be sure of ...

Seems weird that the same people blasting the trade for giving up on a "talent" like Hickson are also convinced the Kings won't make the playoffs anytime soon. These two things shouldn't be mutually exclusive arguments.

A good amount of TT haters are also Hickson fans. Go figure

I can't wait to watch Jimmer and Hickson on the court together. I'm thinking of memories of Paul Westhead's Denver Nugget's team: they'll put up 110 points but other team will put up 120 if those two get a lot of time on the court together. Imagine how big Derrick Rose's or Russell Westbrook's eye are going to get seeing Jimmer in front of him with Hickson as the help "defender" off the pick and roll. Good guards are going to be drooling like Pavlov's dogs when they see those Kings jerseys.

Highly doubt it. They absolutely bled talent this summer when they let Beno and Casspi go and will likely Dalemebert walk. Seriously...they're letting the only guy who could be a defensive anchor walk? Why?? They're building their whole team on a hothead in Cousins and a very high usage PG in Tyreke. Their remaining frontcourt players do *not* fit together with Cousins. Jason Thompson and JJ?

Paul Westphal coached my favorite non-Cavs team of all times, '92 Phoenix Suns, so you know I'm being objective when I say Westy has gone completely off the deep end. He absolutely could not create any type of cohesive rotation last year, and I don't see it getting any better this season.
