Hollywood scandal

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We're going to end up seeing a scenario play out where men just stop interacting with women on a day to day basis. Being friendly won't be worth the potential risks.
This is already true.. I have seen front line supervision select ugly old women over hotties over concern with SH potential..

It's not workplace related, but my daughter was walking her dogs today. As she walked by, her neighbor opened the blind to just above his waist and started masturbating at the window. My traumatized daughter called the police, they told her he can do whatever he wants inside his apartment.

She has to move now, which is going to cost quite a bit of money (higher rent at the only opening, the cost of moving) because she doesn't feel safe living next to him.

How can this possibly be legal and why is the victim of something like this the one who gets inconvienienced.

We had a guy like that on my street. He didn't wack off though, he would just stand there with his hands on his hips at the front door while I would wheel by walking my dog. His robe would be open and he would just watch me. He would do it to everyone on the street that walked by. Someone kicked his ass a few years back when he showed up at the streets 4th of July party.

Crazy how you can't do anything about it. Cops told us the same thing they told you.

Franken urged to reverse his resignation
At least four senators are urging Al Franken to reconsider resigning, including two who issued statements calling for the resignation two weeks ago and said they now feel remorse over what they feel was a rush to judgment.

Pretty obvious they don't give two shits about sexual misconduct. They just wanted a Democrat to win in Alabama.

This is what I expected. They were willing to sacrifice Franken to keep Moore out of the Senate. Now that that isn't necessary it's cool for Franken to stay.

It's a fucking joke no matter how they attempt to spin it, too.

It's clear what they're doing to keep their party in power, which is shitty.

They're trying to spin it as suddenly feeling remorse, which means our leadership decided to call for a resignation as if they're Aunt Sally on Facebook without considering the ramifications of them doing so.

Pathetic. Replace them too.

I really don't see the point in them doing it. A republican isn't going to take his seat. I didn't think Franken needed to resign in the first place, but calling for his resignation isn't really something you can take back a week or two later. Either they did it for political reasons relating to the Alabama race, or, like you said, they did it impulsively without thinking of the ramifications. Maybe they'll get lucky and Trump will tweet some dumb shit to take the attention away from them.

I actually kind of like Joe Manchin, even as someone who leans right. I think his point is valid....there's "due process". When a majority of the party starts applying the pressure they did ahead of the race in Alabama, Franken was basically forced into submission. Manchin says at least 4 Democrats have voiced regret over applying pressure to Franken without allowing him to go through the "ethics committee".

In Manchin's interview he was pretty adamant he didn't know how the "ethics committee" investigation would turn out, only that all Americans have the right to "due process".

I don't think his overall point is wrong, although if Franken does in fact "un-resign" it will look absolutely ridiculous....

Right, and yet, you seem not to realize just how common sexual harassment in the workplace really is. To argue it's not prevalent in corporate America is somewhat ridiculous, particularly coming from someone who is claiming "25 years of experience in that field."

Except I did not say, as you just claimed here, that "it's not prevalent in corporate America." I don't even like the structure of that statement because "prevalent" is not quantified. In the future, why not try quoting what I actually said, rather than "paraphrasing" me, changing the meaning in the process, and then saying it was "ridiculous" for me to make a statement that I never even made? This is not the first time this has happened, and quoting the particular statement you find problematic would help these discussions go much more smoothly in the future. Here is the statement I actually made, rather than the words you attempted to cram into my throat:

My experience has been that it is not nearly as severe and pervasive as reported to be in Hollywood. But then, I've only been practicing in that field for 25 years.

Any employment lawyer in the world with any significant experience will tell you that. The "casting couch" has been openly discussed in Hollywood for years. Everyone there knew about it, and yet it was completely tolerated -- even accepted. Molestation, demands for sexual favors, etc., were joked about routinely, and it turns out the "jokes" were true, and they all knew it. Or at least, strongly suspected it. We're not just talking crude jokes and sexual innuendo -- we're talking pure quid pro quo discrimination.

Even plaintiffs lawyers would tell you that level of harassment is not nearly as common in most of corporate America. It surely happens, but not to the same extent.
I've seen a President of a Fortune 500 company fired by his board because he had consensual sex with a staff person in his office. Hollywood wouldn't blink an eye at that. Hell, it still wouldn't.

There are three basic reasons for that. The first is legal, the second two are practical.

1) The legal reason is that discrimination laws apply only to employees -- they do not apply to independent contractors, and that's what actors/actresses generally are.. In other words, crude propositions, offers of future film roles, etc. in exchange for sex is generally not illegal. The casting couch is not against the law. A physical assault is, but economic pressure to consent to sex is not.

https://www.thenation.com/article/a...ave-no-federal-sexual-harassment-protections/

Conversely, in most of corporate America, a sexual harassment case could net a plaintiff employee (and cost a company) hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. Quid pro quo verdicts are some of the highest. To try to prevent that, companies have HR departments, conduct sexual harassment training, set up hotlines, etc.. Companies try to squelch it because it is horribly bad for business. There is not that same disincentive and liability potential in Hollywood, so there aren't the same institutional pressures trying to squelch it. Maybe that wasn't the case in corporate America back in the 1950's, but it is now. Hollywood, however, is still stuck in the 50's when it comes to these issues.

2) The first practical reason is that Hollywood is a much smaller community, which is inundated by a very large number of people trying to obtain a very limited number of acting opportunities, which in turn are controlled by a relatively small number of people. That puts enormous power in the hands of those who control who gets which roles, and creates a very large number of desperate- and generally very attractive - women trying to get those roles. The situation is tailor-made for abuse. And accusations against someone powerful carries the risk of being blackballed. If you piss off the wrong people (or so many women felt), you might not ever get an acting job.

While people surely want jobs in corporate America as well, there is a much wider pool of potential employers, and the potential rewards (be a world famous actress!) aren't nearly as enticing. Very few women are going to be willing to suck a dick for $17.50/hour, and are quite likely to tell their significant other or HR if someone tries to make them. They'll get a lawyer, quit, and go work somewhere else for $17.50/hour where they don't have to suck a dick. Again, not all the time, and it does sometimes happen. But it is not going to happen as often as it does in Hollywood.

The second practical reason is the nature of the work environment. A great many jobs in corporate America are 9-5, in an office (or on a production floor), where the opportunity for 1-on-1 propositioning isn't going to present itself. People generally come to work, then go home. But in Hollywood, someone interviewing for a job may meet the producer or casting director at night, for dinner, or in a home, etc.. The nature of the job is going to create far more opportunities for that kind of harassment than would most jobs in corporate America. And generally, the people who are working more irregular hours in corporate America are going to be better educated women with far more diverse opportunities than is an actress trying to get that big role. And, they have a legal system (and HR) to back them up if someone comes after them.

If you still want to claim that what is being revealed in Hollywood is just as common in corporate America, feel free. It really can't be disproven because there isn't comparative data. But I don't think it makes a shred of logical sense, and I think most people in corporate America would disagree with your opinion.

Forciblibly penetrated by a dick...

1/3...

50 % harassed as in asked for sexual engagement after asking the source to stop..

If we are talking about obscenity in the workplace, objectifying women (such as "nice rack!") Would be 100 percent..

Shit happens in the work place all the time.

Some women leverage it, will put out for promotion..

Some women are sexually aggressive with direct reports too.
You think 100% of women are told they have a nice rack?

Idk ivr been in scuzzy male dominated sales environments, guys didn't fuck with all of them. Not even close.

1/3 women being forcibly raped is like way high imo. I can give you my anecdotes to compete with yours but they'd all be anecdotes. If yiu really want me to pull up data I could, but it's nowhere near that. To add on to that, I've sourced reports that suggest around 40% of rape accusations were bs to various extents.

‘Silicon Valley’ Star T.J. Miller Accused of Sexually Assaulting, Punching Woman

T.J. Miller, the former star of HBO’s Silicon Valley, is now facing accusations that while in college he sexually assaulted and punched a woman, the Daily Beast reports.
“He just tried a lot of things without asking me, and at no point asked me if I was all right,” the woman told The Daily Beast. “He choke[d] me, and I kept staring at his face hoping he would see that I was afraid and [that he] would stop… I couldn’t say anything. … I was paralyzed.”

The alleged victim, who wants to remain anonymous, says she is speaking out now to add her voice to the “societal awakening” happening now in both left-wing Hollywood and the left-wing mainstream media. The Daily Beast further reports that the “accusations were eventually addressed by a student court at George Washington University and have been buzzed about in Hollywood and stand-up circles for years.”

On top of that, the Daily Beast says it has interviewed five people who say the alleged victim shared her story with them at the time. Apparently, there were two separate incidents.

The alleged victim admits that when the first alleged assault occurred, some 15 years ago, she was very drunk to the point where she does not remember much. What she says she does remember, though, is “that as they were ‘fooling around’ at her place, Miller began ‘shaking me violently'” and allegedly punched her in the mouth during sex.

She says she woke up with a bloody lip and fractured tooth.

During the second alleged incident a few weeks later, which she says lasted five hours, she claims she was sober.

“We started to fool around, and very early in that, he put his hands around my throat and closed them, and I couldn’t breathe,” she told the Daily Beast. “I was genuinely terrified and completely surprised. I understand now that this is for some people a kink, and I continue to believe it is [something] that should be entered into by consenting parties. But, as someone who had only begun having sexual encounters, like, about three months earlier, I had no awareness this was a kink, and I had certainly not entered into any agreement that I would be choked.”

After that, she claims he sodomized her without her consent and “penetrated” her with a bottle, again without her consent. She claims she told him “No.”

She says it took her a year before she could talk to the campus police. After a two-week process, she was told the situation was “resolved.” Citing privacy laws, the school would not comment further.

Miller denies any wrongdoing and supplied character witnesses from that time to speak on his behalf.

This is the second time Miller’s run-ins with the law have become public, In December of last year, he was arrested and cited after an altercation with an Uber driver.

Called bs on tbis one originally. Most likely they were both into kinky shit, there's a hint of truth in the statement because of that, ND she went public to fuck with him.

I know this sets people off, but you just cannot simply believe everyone. Lives get ruined.

T.J. Miller and Kate's full statement.

We met this woman over a decade ago while studying together in college, she attempted to break us up back then by plotting for over a year before making contradictory claims and accusations. She attempted to discredit both of our voices and use us against one another by trying to portray Kate to be a continuous abuse victim of T.J. (further efforts to hurt the two of us). She was asked to leave our university comedy group because of worrisome and disturbing behavior, which angered her immensely, she then became fixated on our relationship, and began telling people around campus “I’m going to destroy them” & “I’m going to ruin him.” We are confident that a full consideration of accounts from and since that time will shed light and clarity on the true nature of not only this person’s character, but also on the real facts of the matter. (See the e-mails referenced). We stand together in stating this is nothing more than an unfortunate resurgence of her lies designed to wreak havoc on two happily married people in the public eye. She began again to circulate rumors online once our relationship became public.

Sadly she is now using the current climate to bandwagon and launch these false accusations again. It is unfortunate that she is choosing this route as it undermines the important movement to make women feel safe coming forward about legitimate claims against real known predators.

We stand together and will not allow this person to take advantage of a serious movement toward gender equality by allowing her to use this moment to muddy the water with an unrelated personal agenda. We feel we all have an obligation now more than ever to prevent people from using reporters to spin lies into headlines, and focus instead on what is real.

We both champion and continue to stand up for people everywhere who have truly suffered injustice seeking to have justice brought into their lives. - Kate & T.J. Miller

The story said 2nd run in with the law. So i know the story is not unbiased as this is not a run in with the law, the statue of limitation has passed from 15 years ago because i looked it up and its only 3 years.

Its a bullshit story from someone trying to get money is my guess. Oh and the other run in was an altercation with an uber driver? I am sure he was drunk and rude. I am sure TJ was at fault, but they are acting like that is anything more than a class d misdemeanor.

I hate that this is happening and lots are true, but I hate how its being covered by a bunch of story hungry no moralled reporters too.
