Hue Jackson and Todd Haley Fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can anyone explain why Hue had Tyrod spike the ball with 14 seconds left in OT? Why not run that down to 4 or 5 seconds? It just seems like this guy is completely overwhelmed when it comes to in game strategy.

I thought the same thing.

My only thought is that since we were kicking on 3rd down, they may have miscalculated leaving time and hoped that if we had a bad snap in the rain, we could sit on it and re-line up quickly.

One of my pet peeves in football is when coaches play for field goals. Over the years I have seen that tactic blow up in coaches faces so many times.

So in a tropical storm, Hue (or whoever) chooses to go into the fetal position and be satisfied with the exact same length attempt of a FG that the Steelers had just missed.

Did I mention this was in a tropical storm?

Vanquishing all of the losing, especially against the Steelers, is never going to be easy. How about being aggressive, going for the kill? You have a QB that doesn't turn the ball over. What are you scared of? Doing a dive over center and losing 2 yards is just absurd.

I just find the lack of aggression inexcusable in that situation. They got the result they deserved on that kick. Wonder if Hue (or whoever) will ever learn.

In the rare event of a bad snap, the holder could stand up and throw the ball out of bounds to stop the clock thus giving the team another shot at the field goal.

Highly unlikely that happens, but I’m guessing that was the thought process.

What would be the point of running it down to 4-5 seconds?

They had no timeouts, they were in FG range and the QB couldn't hit water from a boat in the middle of lake erie.

Not sure what you want him to do there.

So in the event of a missed FG, Pittsburgh wouldn't get the ball at the 33 yard line with 7 seconds left and an opportunity to win the game on a fluke play.

Be honest, after the kick was blocked who didn't put the chance of Pittsburgh scoring in some unbelievable fashion at 50-50?

"Don't take unnecessary swipes." - The guy who can't get over Peppers being a Michigan player.

Dude, you are comparing a guy who is insinuating that the head coach is gay, which has nothing to do with the game, to Jabril Peppers lack of field awareness, playmaking, and getting tackled and stripped by a QB? We have had solid Michigan players like Leroy Hoard and Steve Everitt. Jabril Peppers has so far been a bust. We took him a few picks before TJ Watt. Let that sink in.

The fact that you're still trying to push him being a bust shows your lack of unbiased sight.

This isn't zero-sum. They both sucked. Hue is here and that isn't great; however, his poor performance isn't some kind of feather in the hat for Sashi.

I agree.

Silva has a weird fanboy boner for Sashi and his methods.

Sashi made enough bad mistakes to lose his job, but it should be clear to anyone with two eyes that Hue is actually worse.

Alright I get that, but that’s just a matter of preference. Are you more worried about a botched snap/hold in the rain or a blocked/missed FG?

I was good with kicking on 3rd down with a few extra ticks left in case of disaster. Of all the things to complain about Hue for, I don’t think this makes the list.
