Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Jesus Christ.

Get him the fuck out of here. Now.

I can't wait until he's gone.

In addition to his attitude issues (dogging it after he got his contract), his delusion about his abilities is maddening. He continually tries to do more than he's capable of doing.

My guess is that if Thomas were not hurt, Shumpert would be gone already.

But we need him for now, as backup SG.

Fine. Please get him out of here as soon as possible afterwards.

I hope he proves me wrong and plays great this year, as he did in 2014-15. But I doubt it will happen.

Of the 15 guys who I think will make our final roster, he is the one guy I think needs to go from an attitude/mindset perspective.

We tried to dump him this past summer, apparently, but failed to do so.

Lue also supported what Shumpert is saying. Lue said something today in his post-practice interview about Shumpert doing more pick and rolls this year and how Shumpert worked on it this summer. Something like that. Pretty sure Lue was talking about Shumpert.

I came here to post this too after watching that interview. Did not sit well. Did anyone notice how much he occupied the ball during the scrimage? He was shooting and doing all his stuff to get to the hoop. It sucked. All the other guys were making plays. Dwade and Drose were going past their man to the hoop, but Shumpert was chucking. I am not into that. He should only ever shoot a wide open shot. He was talking about being a major scorer in the finals. We got to get him gone. Seems like the worst attitude on the team.

He's more delusional than I thought. He really has to go. I want him to shoot as little as possible.

It's always the same thing with him. It's so annoying.

If his contract were less and his attitude were different, I'd be happy to have him on the third string once Thomas gets healthy. But I think it would actually be better for the team to just dump him when the time comes.

As with Kyrie, I think there is a certain "addition by subtraction" element that would come from letting Shumpert go.

We would want to replace him with an adequate stand-in (hopefully someone who could take the court against the Warriors and guard wings), but I really do hope he ends up on the way out this year.

Ideally, Shumpert is the 11th man on this team (first guy to take the court from the 3rd string while Calderon, Osman, Frye and Zizic sit) as well as a guy who could help against Golden State.

But, I just don't trust him and I don't think he's a good influence on the team.

It's a shame, but we've had three years with him and I don't think things will change that much with him at this point.

Making shump the backup point guard was the worst thing we ever did This guy is delusional, he was terrible as a playmaker, and he takes awful shots. His decision making needs to be as limited as possible.

One again we have this guy harping on his offensive struggles when his defense declined and he gives 0 fucks about that; which is his actual value to this team. We've got 5 other guys on this roster that are better with the ball in their hands. Why in the world would we want give him the keys over the other guys?

This is all funny because his stats show he improved slightly offensively last season and lost his positives as a defender.

Shump, if you want to have a role... go back to being a defensive stopper. Worried that people don't recognize your offense? Uh oh, your head is not in the right place.

The most damning thing for Shumpert is how well JR Smith has done since Smith became a Cavs player.

Wasn't JR supposed to be a throw-in for that deal?

JR has become Mister Cleveland since coming here. Totally remade his whole image, became a full-time starter again, really got it done.

And Shumpert became...Shumpert.

What's difficult is that we could really use an 11th Man against the Warriors. The guy who played the 11th-most minutes for them in last year's Finals -- JaVale McGee -- had a 154 ORTG against us in that series. And their depth helped wear down LeBron and Kyrie over the series and in games.

It's so frustrating. We can't just dump Shumpert because we need someone useful in his role. But putting up with his drama is absolutely unbearable.

What's doubly frustrating is that he is both athletic and entering the prime of his career. If he had a different attitude about his role, I have no doubt it would increase his focus, consistency, and value.

3-4 years into the league, sure, maybe you haven't gotten to show all you could do. Maybe you've been misunderstood. Maybe you got held back by injury. etc.

But entering your 7th year, you have to accept and embrace the role that the NBA has seen fit for you.

Because JR, and he's talked about this, totally embraced the three and D role. If Shump would just do THAT, everyone here would love him. Not as much as JR, that's just not possible, but in a "Cleveland fans love hard work" type of way.

And the crazy part is he would absolutely excel in that role. He's become a good enough shooter that you can't leave him alone. It's baffling.

Sounds like he's already eyeing his next contract (rightfully so) since he's about to hit his "prime", whatever that is.

Anyways just another bad Griffin contract we'll be trying to get rid off soon. Next in line will be Korver, who we inexplicably gave 7mil/3 yrs at 36. RJ's contract length was weird too. Anyone remember that absurd AV deal?

If he simply stuck to that role and gave it his all I’d love him and he’d be one of the most popular players in the city. He would be a better Danny green. But he’s retarded and refuses to be 3 and D and we have a coach who encourages him to be aggressive and play PG. I’ve never seen a player who’s less self aware.

Griffin was creative in engineering trades but mediocre when it came to managerial foresight. Players were overextended, others were allowed to walk for nothing

Get Shump the hell out of town. Dude wants to show his offensive skill when the Cavs don't need his offense. We need his defense. Shump is the same guy who blew off Mike Woodson when Woodson told Shump to work on his dribble in the offseason. The Cavs should have traded Shump for a second round pick or late first round pick. The Cavs don't need any selfish players on this team. It's preseason and he's already talking about getting his. This is a bad way to start the season.
