Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If worst comes to worst can we just cut him? Preferably we would be able to trade him, but I really don't want to go into the season with him on the team. We have a solid group of guys who all seem motivated to win a ring. I don't want him around screwing up the chemistry.

Does anyone else think Shump is going to look WAY WAY better this season?

He seems so much more motivated than ever before.
People have been saying this every year and he’s never lived up to the initial optimism people have had.

He’s owed like $21 million. Put the crack pipe down.

He DID cut his hair........just looking for something/anything positive.

Year one was him coming off injury, last year he was playing out of his role because Kyrie injury, and this year Lue said he has a specific role for him. He is healthy, wont be playing out of position, and have a role carved out for him.

I want to see how he plays in that role. If he plays good, I’m sure his stock will rise again and he can be traded.

Double Post.

So you explained year one... and you explained year three. What about his other super shitty year here?

Kyrie missed time in the '15/'16 season. Not so much last year.

Wasn’t Kyrie out some last year and Shump had to play pg? Either way, I’m still interested in seeing Shump play his role with everybody healthy.

Shump value right now is at an all time low. I would rather him succeed in his role and trade him for something of value if possible, instead of trading him for a useless player like Asik.

I think I'll look at Shumpert's opportunity this year as both glass half-empty and half-full.

Half-empty: He's allowed the opportunities here to go to his head. Why does he believe he deserves more offensive touches? Whatever happened to his above-average defense? The skill that got him his contract in the first place?

Half-full: He only makes around $10 million a year at this point. He still has 2 years on the contract. It's 5th on the list of earnings from Cavaliers (behind LBJ, Love, Thompson, and J.R.), he's not going to make or break the team as is. Additionally, he always has the chance to prove himself once more that he's worth the deal. And if he does manage to stay happy by getting his looks, he might turn the light on once more.

The half-half would be this then: He needs to prove himself. But he's also now further behind on the depth chart (after Rose, Wade, Korver, J.R. to name a few). He won't play unless he earns it. And if worst comes to worst, his contract will be movable eventually.

My beliefs: I don't care. He's not affecting my fandom at this point, why start now? This team has a special air to them. And Shumpert will eventually make his mark on this team as one of the few players left with unreasonable self-expectations.

No he wasn’t. Kyrie was healthy all of last season. And thank god he was because we literally had no backup PG until Deron Williams showed up in March. Kay Felder would have had to start instead :chuckle:

Watching Shumpert trying to dribble the ball is cringeworthy. We should consider it a lost cause.

He hurt himself getting bricked by the rim. I’ve never seen someone blow so many layups in a cavs uniform.
