You won't see me bitching about Grady beating the skin off the ball or Barfields defense at 2nd base...I'm saying we have a huge problem on this team which is getting runners in....and this guys the worst out of anyone..

It'd be like Ben Wallace being on the Cavs shooting free throws...could you imagine our 69-70% FT shooting and adding Ben Wallace? That's the same thing with Blake and RISP.

I'm not complaining about the team..just Blake.

Again I'm NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT THE RECORD!!!!!!

I'm complaining about our coach not recognizing a terrible batter that's holding our GOOD team back..

I hear ya cdt... for whatever reason Wedge loves Michaels and Blake. They fall in love with the "good guy" persona and the "versatility" in the field. I don't agree with either corner outfield platoon situation we have and I really so those as our only real offensive weaknesses.

The fielding has been pretty horrendous this year too overall. I'm hoping that will iron itself out because if not it will start costing us games.

WOW,

cleveland fans complainin about a SOLID team.

are these chat rooms or sport discussions?

What the hell are you talking about?

These people are criticizing Casey Blake, not Manny Ramirez or Alex Rodriguez, but Casey, pride of Indianola, Iowa, Blake. They even pulled out some statistics to support it (although one has to question whether the RISP stastics cited should be considered particularly persuasive--Andruw Jones is on that list...). Criticize the methodology, counter with an alternate theory, or even explain how Blake's presence in the line-up enhances the SOLID-ness of the team. Whatever. Just don't pull out that "real fan" bs.

Or, if you're holding out for real "sports discussions" go watch The Sports Reporters...

Regarding "good guy" baseball players--

Firejoemorgan can get repetetive and a little obnoxious at times, but they're discussion of the "good guy" player that "plays the game the right way" is dead on. Both terms are euphemisms for "white guys that are past their prime or not that good."

Blake? Dude just plays the game the right way...

*edit* I love Michaels now, 3-0 Tribe ;)

Exactly, are they required in MLB? It seems like every team has at least one.

Yeah. I used to say the same thing about white receivers in the '80s and early 90's NFL....

Ricky Proehl, Brian Brennen..to name a few..

Garko has shown that he will be in the lineup everyday.

what the hell is it about people hating casey blake. does anyone realize how GOOD he was last year?

average .282 OBP .356 slugging .479 with 19 HRs and 68 RBIs in 109 games. shit i will take that every year from my number 6 guy.

yes the guy had a horrible year the year before, there are no doubts about that, but he is a decent fielder that does what he is ask, and can bat. I dont see what more you want from him

Just seems more often than not in a crucial situation Number 1 strides to the plate with RISP usually 2 outs and fails miserably...

I just don't see how he should even be on the field Garko Dulluci and Michaels are all better hitters and don't give up anything on the defensive side. Garko supposedly isn't great but I've seen him make some great scoops already.

Who the hell is complaining that we're behind? All I said was we can't just let RISP not get hit in in this division.

CDT said we can't waste RISP.

So...whats the problem?

CDT is right, I love Casey and I always root for him, but he's costing us too much these days.

well blake once again didnt get a hit with risp, again today.

Shocking..maybe he'll redeem himself..

Casey at bat goes up 3 times...strikes out twice and walks..

Batting .194

jesus H christ you guys act like the rest of the team is knocking the cover off the ball.

the team was an AMAZING 1-28 today with the only hit in the first AB of the game
