Is the NFL in decline?

Jim Florentine (who is actually VERY GOOD at both comedy and talking sports..so much so that I wish Comedy Central would have him host an NFL pre game show) had an amazing podcast on the subject.

To blame it on the debates is absurd. Honestly would anyone that IS NOT a fan of Trump or Hillary want to subject themselves to that shit? Wouldn't you want an escape?

Blaming Kaepernick for the ratings drop is hilarious. I did have to watch the 49ers game on one knee last week in protest of his shitty throws.

Has there ever been an entertaining Thursday Night game?

First year of them doing Thursday games every week it seemed like every game was crazy...then they had that one year where every game was a blowout.

Shot their load too early.

Thursday Night NFL games are not a bad idea in theory...if they're like in December or something. That would even be a great time to have them start splitting some of the games so that they air on Saturday and Sunday.

But yeah these games are crap.

It used to be that the only Thursday games were Thanksgiving and the week of Christmas.

I like how if New Years is on a Sunday? We're stuck watching the shit NFL games that week.

When CFB is allowed to play that day? That's on the level of the opening round of March Madness or Memorial Day for racing fans for me.

But nope, we get served a big helping of garbage instead of watching the Rose Bowl or something.

Guess what...New Years day is a Sunday this year...but you are talking about something that only comes once every 5 years.

Yep and it fucking blows.

So instead of being a bit hungover and munching on food cheering on random ass Big Ten teams/upsets? We're stuck watching a meaningless Browns-Steelers game that will certainly be a blow out.

Edit: shit, I just realized everything is on New Years day...

Unreal. Someone needs to start a USFL clone up or something. What a load of garbage.

There are many ways to look at it. I guess I may see things different than others. But, when I played sports, I always thought of them as team events. No individual was more important than the team. I felt anything that drew attention to myself was placing myself above the team. After all, each play that is successful requires the efforts of several players on the team not just the person who scores the TD, sack, etc. So, when I made a good play, I would try to celebrate with a teammate. I wouldn't try to conjure up something like shooting a bow and arrow or break dancing or anything that I felt was making it about me instead of the team.

I like that the NFL is trying to get rid of some of these conjured up celebrations like when Joe Horn did the cellphone thing or TO went to the Dallas star at midfield. I got tired of players celebrating after nearly every play even the routine ones.
